Ton's of options.
Old car? Something to drive everyday? Something that might appreciate? (like an antique).
I bought a 2008 Mustang GT convertible back in 2010. Daily drove it for 10 years. Came into an inheritance and told my wife I was going to replace the 1999 truck and trade in the convertible. She told me to keep the convertible and have fun, and buy the truck anyway.
I got two old cars but find I don't drive them very much any more. And now with all the whiz-bang options on the truck (blind spot monitor, back up cameras, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise) even that 2008 seems VERY dated (Wish it didn't have a huge blind spot due to the convertible top).
You want something just fun? Fast? Foreign or American brand? Remember, fast = $$$Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork -

Blueridge Parkway end to end April
There were three of us heading SOBO from Rockfish Gap. We had just passed a slow moving sedan in a double yellow zone when a ranger passed us heading NOBO. We were all leaning into a left-hand sweeper and I guess he figured correctly that we had just completed an illegal pass. Fortunately, the VA / NC border sign appeared and we stopped for a picture. He swung a U-turn and hoped to pick us off from behind. When he saw is stopped off the Parkway, he scowled and took off to set up an ambush further south.
We stopped at the next overlook to kill some time. A few miles later, we saw the ranger with three other bikers pulled over. Good for us, bad for them.
Floyd VA was a cool place to spend the night, although they rolled up the sidewalks around 9 pm.
Trudgin' along the AT since 2003. Completed Sections: Springer Mountain to Clingmans Dome and Max Patch NC to Gorham NH

I had a motorcycle for 1 year.
I used it to commute to/from work on a night shift.
It wasn't unusual on a Friday or Saturday night to have people throw beer cans or bottles at me.
I put it away for winter and sold it in the spring.
I feel safer on my bicycle, even though I've been hit by a car once, years ago. -
I had a bicycle that was jerry rigged with a small gasoline engine and a belt drive.
Then I upgraded to a mini bike.
When I was 15 I had a Honda 50.
(Florida used to have this really stupid law that you had to be 16 to drive a car but you only had to be 15 to operate a motorcycle.)
My younger brother (one grade behind) had a motorcycle. Don't remember what it was. One day when he was a senior in high school he was the passenger on a friends motorcycle, a car ran a stop sign, and killed him.
I haven't been on a motorcycle since.2,000 miler -

Reminds me of David Miller who originally considered Vette as a trail name instead of AWOL. His boss had told him instead of thru-hiking the AT, why don't you just buy a Corevete. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

i would get a '65 Jaguar E Type convertible. Yellow is a good color. It's what Peter O'Toole drove around Paris in when wooing Audry Hepburn in "How to Steal a Million." With 35k$ I could afford to make a few payments before I would have to sell it and hope to get most of my investment back. You might be able to get a good one for 150k$. I'd be happy with one that was functional but not restored if you could find one. That would be less expensive. Enzo Ferrari said it was the most beautiful car ever built.

JACKPOT. '66 and not convertible, but 35K$ on the button

If I was going to have "fun" car it would be a VW dual cab pickup truck 1968 to 71 vintage. I would take forever to get anywhere but I'd have fun doing it.
And believe it or not one in excellent condition could cost that 35 grand. But cars are not that important to me. I see a car as a tool to get me from point A to point B. I guess the fact that I'm still driving my 2002 Subaru, with over 420,000 miles says something about my attitude about cars. The post was edited 1 time, last by LIhikers ().

I had a 1980 (?) VW Pickup; built on the VW Rabbit. And while I'd never call it a fun car, it was perfect for someone like me. Couldn't carry a lot of weight, but could handle Home Depot trips, trips to the landfill, and a couple canoes up top. I'd get one today if they still made them.
For several years I had both the Pickup and an MG Midget. That was a perfect combination of vehicles for me at that stage of my life.2,000 milerThe post was edited 1 time, last by max.patch ().

Had a rare sighting for you. At the end of the street someone had parked a 63 Studabaker Avanti. Not sure I've ever seen one in person before. There were only a few thousand made over a two year period.

Those Avanti Videos were very cool. I love the Avanti logo. Very Jetsons. It's one of those cars I had heard of but never seen in person and didn't really know much about. But so distinctive when we were driving down the street my wife pointed it out and immediately knew what it was.

Saw this modified RAM at Home Depot today. Emblems changed to say "Vader". Fake 50 caliper machine guns on each side. Who does this to a $50,000 truck????"Dazed and Confused"
