Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -
Thirty years ago I did a cross-country drive and stopped off in Badlands National Park. I hiked down the bluffs to the grassy plains below and, errr, 'stealth camped' overnight. There was nothing as far as I could see but the Milky Way above me when I fell asleep in my tent that night.
In the morning I was awoken by strange guttural grunting sounds all around me. What the hell is that? I peered outside my tent and a small herd of bison surrounded me (the herd was small, the bison were HUGE). I just sat there in my vestibule that morning, looking out, talking soothingly to the bison, and taking it all in. They were so close at times I could smell their breath. Eventually they moved on.
It was a pretty great experience!“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,
the saddest are these, 'It might have been.”

man see's injured bear on the side of the road, decides to take a selfie with the bear.
bear revives; mauls the man to death,
bonus: the man's friends who were with him record the mauling on their phones instead of attempting to help their friend.

the reporter said the bear survived and was being treated for its injuries after mauling and killing the man, in the states they’d call for the bears head.

Monawi NE is noteworthy as a town with a 5000 volume library and a population of one. We drove through there in 1996 (when it had a population of two). I don't recall stopping to check out a book. The EW road running across North NE is actually quite scenic, following a strip of land between the Missouri and Niobrara rivers.
