I have seam sealed and tried sleeping naked in my Fuzzy Stuff coat I made. It was comfortable for sleeping indoors, and I needed way less covers. I feel this stuff will work in many temperatures not just freezing as explained on the Stephenson Warmlite website. Next test will be in the pouring rain as a raincoat.

I am looking into this and discovering there are many versions of VBL that have been adopted such as the Thermarest with Foil on one side.

I've seen people use a space blanket as a ground sheet- kind of the same effect. The blanket inside an X-lite works so so. I add a 1/8" foam mat on top of mine in the fall.
A windshield sun visor works well. A bit more durable than a space blanket if you use it for multiple outings. I use one for winter backpacking. -

I've used a space blanket under my pad. Not sure if it made me warmer, it's hard to measure that. The sun visor idea is great, it can also be used as a sit pad.Lost in the right direction.
