the cookset for my svea 123 has a lid like that. never cooked in it. but i would put it on upside down (it was made to fit either way) and boil water in it at the same time while i was boiling water and cooking in the pot.

Last thing I cooked on the trail. At Cranberry Stream Campsite, Bigelow Range, Maine. With HB.
This vegey stew is now my main dehydrated meal. I don't even know where this MSR pot is, huge compared to my 700 & 900 snow peak tins!Cheesecake> Ramen

Several people on this site have had my trail cooking and know that I still cook on the trail from time to time.I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here.

I love doin' dishes with copious amounts of rinse water, though I've gotten better. Dishes on the trail sucks! Freezer baggin' is easy.

On the trail I like to go dish-less. Oatmeal or Grits in the packets for breakfast and then Mountain House for dinner. Put it in your trash freezer bag and you are done.The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Rocket Socks and I went stove less that trip a few years back on Delaware Water Gap - for me hard boiled eggs, Jerky and Bagels. I tried an Alcohol stove one night behind a rock and foil, and the wind rendered it useless. Best to have a stoveless backup when on the trail.Be wise enough to walk away from the nonsense around you!

I found that scout mess kit that was hiding down my basement. Now all I have to do is open it up and check on the condition of the pieces to see if it's still useable.

No way brother! These are an-t-Qs! I had these up in my Grams attic when we cleaned it out! The sad thing is that I am the last Scout in my family. They will get tossed when my attic is cleaned out

I had one of those sets. My mother tossed a bunch of my things whole I was in boot camp. She told me I had outgrown things when I joined the Navy. I disagree. I have tossed things but I think it's my opinion not the relatives for this stuff.--

Reviving an old thread. On the AT I have seen mini pressure cooker pots. I have seen lots of alcohol stoves and some just plain starve with a sandwich. Thoughts?Be wise enough to walk away from the nonsense around you!

Breakfast is usually oatmeal, lunch is often hot soup, and then dinner is some dehydrated food brought back to life.
Gee, could I turn our cook pot into a pressure cooker by putting a rubber band around it to hold on the cover to build up pressure? -

Rasty honest I understand, most folk do not include passions with work. You have worked your passion of ideas and what you want to do. Unfortunately, it separates you from family and friends or people you may care about. Management toughens individuals, the hours the sweat and the constant BS from upstairs. I get it. After 8+ years I have watched chefs sock some money away and walk away from their jobs to launch a career as an OWNER and surround themselves with younger open minded chefs that are willing to learn, adapt, work with repeat customers. I have hung out with an acquaintance - we will call him Fish (nickname) he worked for corporate "Not Your Average Joe" for several years and now he owns 5 BBQ places around the outside of Philadelphia. Man this guy is so F'in happy I would want to bottle it as a sauce. Hope this helps.Be wise enough to walk away from the nonsense around you!
