The transfer took a few hours longer then I anticipated. I goofed and thought a 8.2 gb database would fit in a 25 gb server package. Apparently there is some new geek math that takes 8.2 and makes it 40. The site is fully propagated on my phone right now but is broken on the computer. This should resolve itself within a few hours.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

normally moving from one server company to the next is fast. In this case the server company has done everything correctly it is just Google and Microsoft that are taking their time recognizing the new ipaddress. The mobile phone version of chrome and explorer found the new ipaddress within about 20 minutes.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

It's OK Rasty - as a group we understand... At first I though I was "tuck tail" and kicked off... my feathers were clearly ruffled. I thought I could have patched whatever I did wrong.... then as the coffee sunk in... wait... what did I do now? oh not again.... . tested a few other computers and and realized it wasn't me. at least not this time... I attempted to reconcile my emotions... like most things in moment... Like dealing with any party,.. at first there was denial, then came anger, a little later there was some bargaining... then the worst happened - serious depression... and eventual acceptance.... Then after the coffee sank in.. I went to work.... sold a ton of stuff and got a great commission. Now I am seriously happy to be back and the site running and wonderful. Will be a Friday to remember... headed for Maguire AFB tomorrow,,
Thanks...Be wise enough to walk away from the nonsense around you! -

I didn't see the warning, so when I tried to pop in to sniff some packs, I got some weird "fatal error" message. I was hoping it wasn't some sort of omen. I actually had to interact with humans a little bit yesterday. Scary.Do your duty in all things. You cannot do more, you should never wish to do less. - Robert E. Lee

Can anyone load the site on their computer? I can only get on through my phone. I'm not sure if it's my laptop locking on to the old ipaddress.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

I got on my daughters laptop. My laptop has locked on to the old DNS ip address and I can't figure out how to clear it. I've tried clearing cache, resetting the DNS within the command prompt, setting the DNS to the 8.8.8.8 google public dns. It is weird.
Hell I even tried restarting the computer.

DNS changes have to propagate to various servers. People with different service providers probably use different DNS servers.I am human and I need to be loved - just like everybody else does

Thanks for the time and effort you put in to make this place work.
I appreciate it -

I found out it was a setting in the windows32 folder in a file called hosts. There should have only been the local DNS but there was also a ip address for the old location. No matter how many times I cleared the dns that file overruled it. Now I just need to modify that file as an administrator on my computer and delete that line. The only problem is as an administrator I can't find the folder is in when running thinkpad++.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

It is always amazing how long a simple thing can sometimes take. One line of code in a file can royally screw up your computer. Figuring out where that line of code is and then removing it is always fun. I thought the site wasn't propagated for over 36 hours but it was just a setting on my computer.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

Anyone notice any difference in the speed (+or-) of the site since the change?

I have a love hate relationship with computers. I spend about 50% of my work week dealing with computers. We are 80% done with a complete upgrade to our point of sale system right now. The company that provided the software and hardware is horrific. Three months into this project I'm at the point where I really really hate this company.
On a bright note I'm going to the Chicago Restaurant show this weekend and guess which company has a booth. My goal is a $20,000 aggravation discount. I've got all the documentation I need.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.
