Both Garner and Berkman talked about how Bagwell played the game the right way, never flipping a bat or trying to show up an opponent like some players do now.
Of course guess who leads the game off for Toronto, none other than Jose Bautista. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Game Sunday afternoon had a good ending. Down 6-3 in the bottom of the 9th Astros loaded the bases with one out. Beltran hit into a force play to make it 6-4 (if he had been not hustling down the line the double play would have ended it). Then Bregman hits a triple to tie it 6-6. Followed by a game ending single by Juan Centeno (just up for Evan Gattis out for 7-day concussion).
Was a game of redemption for Beltran who caused them to loose the night before by stopping at 3rd instead of scoring from 1st on an extra base hit by Bregman, and Centeno who grounded into a double play to end an earlier inning with the based loaded. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

i was planning on driving up to phoenix on tuesday to catch the noonish astros - diamondbacks game -- but i got outta a chair funny on sunday and had instant back pain which changed those plans. a trip to the urgent care center has got me all drugged up and feeling almost normal but a 2 hour drive each way to sit in hard seat didn't make a whole lotta sense. no more trips to ymca the rest of the trip -- i'm a couch potato for the time being.
it's all i can do to walk to the mailbox at noon because of the heat -- how do the athletes play ball for 3-4 hours?! i guess when you'r makin 7 figures you can put up with just about anything...2,000 miler -

Sorry you missed the Astros (Sports Illustrated predicted way back this would be their year), but hopefully everything will heal up quick.
We once had a CIO who complained about the things that kept him up at night. My first thought was give me your 7 figure salary and abundance of stock options I would not mind missing a little sleep. I was not feeling a lot of sympathy for him.The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Another former Gamecock.....
Another frustrating one is when the guy is strolling home from 3rd on the Sacrifice Fly and does not touch home before the guy on second gets thrown out at 3rd base for the 3rd out of the inning.
I don't have much respect for Pete Rose as a person, but on the field you never had to worry about him pulling one of those lazy blunders. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

athletics rookie boog powell -- who isn't related to boog powell -- hit his first career home run yesterday in baltimore. the ball landed just short of boog powells plaque. today boog powell is gonna give boog powell some barbecue from the Boog's Bar-B-Que stand at the stadium.
how can boog powell not be related to boog powell?

texas plays at houston next week.
houston plays at texas in september.
the city of houston has more important things to worry about now than a baseball game.
houston asks texas to switch series; houston will go to texas next week and texas will go to houston in september.
texas says "no way, jose" -- you can come to texas next week but we're still gonna keep the september series here.
houston says screw you and moves next week series to tampa bay.
texas is getting ripped on social media as they should be.2,000 miler -

While the Rangers were total jerks in being not willing to swap home series due to the hurricane.
Hats off to the NY Mets for their willingness to move Friday's game to a split double header on Saturday. Both teams spent the Friday off day helping victims. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

i remember when bob horner did it for the braves who -- no surprise -- proceeded to lose the game. only time that has happened (unless you count some guy in the 1800's).2,000 miler
