Then I won't be able to make it work, you're lighter weight than me. But I have the perfect pack, a deuter 20l (?) day pack that's too big for day hiking.

I could fit everything but was putting more stress on the zipper then I was comfortable with. The 20 liter would have worked better but it was sold out from GoLite when I wanted to buy one. It's probably the best day pack I've seen.TrafficJam wrote:

I've been sleeping in a OR Helium body bag plus two layers of nylon (jackets and pants). The weather is too warm for a sleeping bag, liner, blanket, or even a sheet. I shiver a little in early morning, but get up before the sun, sometimes at 4:30 AM. The bivy has a five-segment pole arch across the chest, which is nearly useless IMO, since it does not keep the bug net off my head. I wear a visor and a hood to minimize bites through the mesh. The Pertex shield worked well in heavy rain, but there was a minor leak at the foot end where the bathtub was unsupported. An inflatable mattress might help support the foot end and/or keep me above the water level. A pack cover is recommended, since the pack stays outside. To avoid suffocation, the Pertex top should be left partially unzipped. Therefore, you still need to pitch a tarp or poncho over the head end.

With GoLite's notorious inventory control challenges, I feel like I hit the lottery in getting a 20L.

I checked and the deuter's a 24L which should allow my small cookset and morning coffee.

However it's rare I don't bring cooking capability unless the hike is projected to be <5 hrs.
