I have great memories of a rain day during our Presidential traverse.
We didn't get out of the tent until something like 3 in the afternoon, when the rain stopped.
I slept most of the day, not because I was tired from hiking, but because I was tired from getting ready for vacation.
That day of sleep made the trip for me -
