i need to make a new cozy for FBC......on Labor Day the one I made 30 meals ago shyte the bed. it was a copy of something that I think TJ made....with materials I had at hand. The tape holding it together got wet and soft, then nasty. I have been keeping my eyes peeled at every supply type store. I think one of the UL companies has a kit for sale, but I'm sure we could do something for MUCH less.Cheesecake> Ramen

I made a Reflectix pot cozy is in the Antigravity zgear kit a couple of years ago. Still works fine although it had some tears at stress points that I reinforced with extra foil tape. Some of the reflectix seems to have compressed but it still keeps food very hot. Too hot to eat after 20 min. Have recently been making FB cozies out of the dollar store sun screens based on BB'S recommendation but haven't tested them yet.

Anybody know of a good material to make a pot cozy out of ?
I was going to use a windshield reflector but thought I'd ask before going ahead with the sun shield.

When I teted my tent in the backyard last week I put a closed cel blue pad under my sleeping bag. I touched the bare tent floor and it was cold to the touch during the rain. The pad certainly helped.
At $17, I would have to wait for my next check to try it out.--

Has anyone tried putting reflectix on their sleeping pad to increase the R value?

The cells in Reflectix puncture too easily for it to make a good ground pad. But if you have a sleeping pad that doesn't have a reflective layer, a layer of Reflectix on top can help. (Or it can go under an inflatable pad but over your foam, so that there's an air gap for radiant heat transfer to be stopped.) Its base R factor is 1.1, with then some unknown amount of gain from the reflective coating.I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here. -

With different brand names I am not sure what reflectix is.
I have a roll of stuff that has plastic bubble wrap type stuff inside with an aluminum foil sort of outside layers. Presume the same stuff. Most important part of making a cozy is using plenty of aluminum tape to ensure none of the plastic in the middle is exposed.

In another thread someone recommended not using Duct Tape as it makes a mess in the pack, the foil tape works best and is lighter... Good to knowBe wise enough to walk away from the nonsense around you!
