I wasn't going to to post these (second one in particular), but then I made the command decision that if y'all can post pictures of skewered testes then this wasn't so bad after all....
Zoomed way in....

Looks delicious.
My season doesn't start for 3-4 weeks...Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -

The "Party Hunt" season (that's the one where they run them with dogs) started Saturday. I saw several parties coming out of the woods along 11 when I was coming up there to meet y'all at the ramp.
We have a lot of bears and they're starting to expand their range. I saw one cross the road just before my driveway a couple years back. He made the local paper a few months later when he climbed a tree at the Family Dollar up the road from my house, lol.If your Doctor is a tree, you're on acid. -

What a great afternoon I had sitting in the tree today. I saw 11 bucks and 2 does total. The does where the last 2 deer to come out. It got a little hectic once they came out, lol. No shots were fired. I did see one really nice buck, but he came out 355yds away and I only had eyes on him for about 15 seconds.

I may grow old but I'll never grow up. -
A guy I knew was an engineer in Raleigh and got laid off. He wound up taking a job with Carolina Archery Products, the maker of the biscuit rests. He was reluctant to take it due to the cut in pay, but decided some income was better than none. Turned into his dream job, lol. He even stayed with Bear Archery and moved to Florida with them when they bought out CAP. Anyway, he sent me a few WB's to try out that had paint blemishes on them. My son LOVED the rest, but I never could get decent groups out of it. I'm definitely in the minority on that though.
Hurry up and get that knee squared away so you can get back in the tree!If your Doctor is a tree, you're on acid. -

At this point it looks like I'll be missing opening day and the day after because it's so warm out that I can't safely leave a deer hanging overnight.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

I thought so. I wasn't questioning the weather, I lived in Norwich for 4 years and hunted 3 of those 4 (Iraq took up one of those seasons with their nefarious behavior...). I was simply curious if you were in the SE area of the state. There's a WMA near Scotland that's named for a friend of mine that was a game warden. He was killed in the line of duty. It used to be Pudding Hill WMA, now it's. James V. Spignesi WMA. I was gonna ask you to put a beer at the base of the sign for Jimmy, he was a good dude.If your Doctor is a tree, you're on acid.

I live on the other side of the state, but if I'm ever in the are I will definitely take a moment to pay my respect and leave a beer on your behalf.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -

I don't know if they still do things the same as when I was there, but I have to say I thought CT had a great system as far as private lands were concerned. There were separate licenses for private and public land. The private land license had a form you had to take to the landowner and have them fill it out. I had a section to describe the land boundaries, the game you were allowed to hunt and the weapons you were allowed to use. Once you had it filled out you took it to Hartford and they issued the private land license based on the paperwork. Also, you carried the paper with your license so when you were checked if you weren't on the property described you could immediately be charged with trespassing. Same thing for game or weapon not specified.
The only thing about hunting in CT that I did not like and never got used to was the fact that legal shooting hours ended at sunset. There's still a LOT of time left to see and see well after sunset.....that one always chapped my butt.
I became friends with Jimmy through another warden. They both worked the same area and a call came in from Pudding Hill that someone was hunting after hours. Dan and Jimmy both responded , but Jimmy told Dan he would swing by and take care of it. The hunters at the parking lot that called it in met Jimmy and told him where the guy was and that he had been staying late every evening and approximately where he was. Jimmy walked in along a dirt road and the man shot him in the road where Jimmy was waiting to meet him on his way out.
The guy was a corrections officer in CT, but was from Mass. He was a nonresident hunting on a resident license. He had a public land license and was hunting on private land. He was hunting with a rifle when only shotgun is allowed on public land. He was hunting after legal hunting time. And he shot and killed Jimmy "thinking he was a deer". All told there were 14 game law violations he was charged with. The prosecutor refused to pursue the game violations and only went after a manslaughter charge. The bastard got probation. Disgusting. If your Doctor is a tree, you're on acid. -

Hmmm... I have nothing printable to say. Both the hunter and the prosecutor should have known better.--

On the hunting topic...I'm hoping my knee is up to a trip to the woods tomorrow, doubt I'll be able to climb into the tree stand but at least I can sit around and watch the woodpeckers, probably take the hammock and spend the night and hunt Sunday as well...if you can call it hunting.I may grow old but I'll never grow up.
