I went and watched in another town. I laughed a number of times. I rarely laugh while watching movies, even if its suposed to be a comedy. There were less than 20 people in the theater at the noon showing.
One character said 5 million steps to the BSP, I thought it was 15 million steps.
Overall, I liked it.
I'm still going on the AT. Likely in 2017.--

i don't remember the film being a bunch of complainers. pretty much a reflection of trail life. included interviews with a.t. "names" bob barker, the ice cream lady, and robbie jumpstart henson. and that college girl was a real cutie.2,000 miler -
the music for the first half (side one of the LP....yep, we still play it....) is great stuff.
Second half of the movie, got.....strange...
Think 'Perverted 1950's Horror movie, mashed up with a rock and roll show, in drag"
Some funny stuff about casting it. Tim Curry showed UP in the Frankenfurter get up, nailed it, was in the London stage play. Meatloaf had been in Hair and other stuff. Showed up and saw the costumes and about walked out.
Susan Surandon, I think she wound up with like Pneumonia....Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork -

Really liked one of them.

After the game store I used to go to closed on Saturday night, many of us would go watch RHPS. I used to know all of the songs. That was years ago. The movie theater is gone and so is the game store.--

Is the movie worth going to the theater to see if you only go once a year?Lost in the right direction.

I am officially announcing my plans for an unassisted speed watching record of this movie. That's right, unassisted. I'll be pushing those remote buttons by myself. No slack-beering either. I'll walk to the fridge for one beer at a time.Do your duty in all things. You cannot do more, you should never wish to do less. - Robert E. Lee

I thoroughly enjoyed the film. Loved it!
As with any film based on a book, do not expect to follow the source material. But I enjoyed the movie much better than the book.
I also thought the film was beautifully shot, with some stunning views of the southern Appalachians well worth seeing on the big screen, because the small screen DVD viewing will never do the scenery justice.
And while the AT and hiking are a big part of the film, it is not film about the AT, but rather a film about two old guys reflecting on life and where they've been and wondering about what the rest of life will bring. In a sense, can you go home again, or return to your youth?
Before the release of the film, I have never been of the opinion that the film would cause even more people to attempt a thru-hike. After seeing it, I am even more convinced that itll not be the cause of more folks on the trail.Of course I talk to myself... sometimes I need expert advice. -

Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -

After talking again with the two folks whom had seen the film last winter, they were of the same opinion. Both of the folks had section hiked most of the AT but are now focusing on the CDT.
