Quote from Astro: “Local giirl pitched at our D2 school Freshman year, and was an All American. Next year she was at U of Kentucky. ” one of my daughters teammates was NCAA freshman of the year, took her team to WCWS as true freshman. 2 years later she was on bench watching someone else *better* pitch. Finished senior yr at a small regional D1 school. At top schools.....coach is always looking to replace you with someone better. Fact of life. They are paid to ......win. Saw a lot of girls have p…

(Hidden Content) Quote from IMScotty: “HA, rather boring for the infielders when she is on the mound ” Thats how they like it. But to be blunt..theres about 40 or so really good competitive softball programs in all of NCAA. Out of about 300 D1, 750 D2, and 1500 ish D3. Of those, probably 35 are D1. A few are D2, and maybe 1 D3. Maybe. Its all about the pitching, and the speed. Very few great pitchers get "overlooked" by the top schools. Or for that matter, great players. Out of those, there are …

I met a 73yo that might have taken longer once at 3-5 mpd.

If you believe surveys 45% wont get vaccinated any time soon. 15% is " hell no " 7 % is "only if i have to " 22% is " Im gonna wait and see what happens to these guinea pigs first" Thats the reason they can open it up to everyone quicker........ Mrna vaccines have never been used before. There was frequent problems in animal tests previously.....long term. To rush them is cause for concern. Probably best thing for highest risk individuals.... Not necessarilly so for lowest risk. When you hear 95…

Quote from odd man out: “I really want to go to SEKI. Looking at the maps, it looks as if you could put together a good week long loop from the west side. Plus I would want to spend a day day hiking in the Giant Forest. I love the giant sequoias I was there on a day trip in 1970 and to Yosemite about 10 years ago. As I recall, there is one back country sequoia grove where camping is allowed. That would be worthwhile seeking out. Don't recall which one. I think is is on the south wesr side. ” Pro…

Best way to do HST is to fly and use public transportation. Fly into Fresno/yosemite, bus to Visalia, Sequoia shuttle into park, hike west to east, hitch to lone pine from the portal, bus to Reno, fly home. If you got the time, HST only takes a few days, spend a few days in yosemite first. Can do a hike there, then the HST, and have a nice 2 weeks trip. HST is decent if youve never been to seki, and is a good way to summit Whitney, since those few choices are hard to come by. I wouldnt consider …

AT has it's strongpoints....mostly it's super easy to plan, super easy to hike logistically. I can understand hiking AT once.......but not spending a lifetime on it when there's so many more spectacular remote places. CT is still uncrowded. Somehow. Probably because easy resupplies are fairly far apart for simplest as you go hiking. 70-100 mi. It gets a bit more complicated for those that can't hike 15-20 mpd. I resupplied in breck (104 mi carry), twin lakes(74), Salida (78), lake city (100), an…

Guy that found her left her there, and went back uphill ~2 miles, told her family where she was. Then went back to her, and waited with her until they got there with their car a few hours later. Just because I thinking about the CT Probably one of my favorite pics Spent a few hrs that day looking for an older woman who got lost from her family near a 14'er. Another hiker I was with found her down a trail to a remote trailhead.....she stayed put when she got there and realized her mistake. He caught back up later. Farther ahead here about a mile, down in trees, met a horse packer who was out for 3 weeks......doing trailwork. Was a real estate developer from Denver. Spent that evening sho…

So probably even more important you each carry a bag. ” even though they improved the sawyer bags relative to the originsl, they are still trash. I use an evernew bag, tough as nails. I just keep a dozen micropure tabs in my food bag incase anything goes wrong. Very light, fraction of oz.

Ah....the days of water treatment pre-sawyer. The sawyer was a game changer. Haven't seen a steripen on trail since it arrived on scene. Or any other types of filters. Sawyers will slow. Backflushing helps. So does buying a new one. Price pay for the simplicity and light weight. I tend to backflush a quick shot every day or 2. I used a mini on first half of CT.....needed backflushing frequently.....then threw it away in Salida and got a full size. It was just too slow. I figured it was costing m…

  • No shortage of places. Re-hiking trails isn't bad if do it in a different season than first time....they can be completely different, ie wet vs dry, green vs brown. Anywhere in southeast and Va is good. Plus southern sections of pct and cdt, before gets hot.
