Water questions
PostI usually carry a two liter camelbak and a 20oz Gatorade bottle. I carry 1 liter in the bak. Although for long trips with limited water I carry a full 3 liter bak.

Quote from AdventureMyk: “I will admit it's not uncommon to toss in just one earbud when kayaking and playing a song like One Tree Hill (U2) which has the perfect cadence for paddling. Some of the longer stretches seem to just go on and on and that's where a good song helps keep the rhythm. Come to think of it, am I the only kayak-camper on here?” You're not alone. I've been known to kayak camp. I got a 14' wilderness system tsunami I go out on lakes and camp with. Love sleeping on the islands. …

The pack held up, but I was exhausted. So if I ever retire the external frame, I'll probably look into something a little lighter... just noticed, my pack is in the back of my profile picture. ” Tangent, if you make it to the lakeshore hike I'll let you try out the arc blast for a few miles. It weig…

The Dehydrated Food Thread
Tangent - - Trail Chefs
PostI've been considering buying a dehydrator. For anything that takes 8 hrs or less, I can always prep it and run it during the school day, tending to it between classes. I got an office with plenty of space. What I don't understand is why you would cook pasta and then dehydrate it. Is it not already dehydrated? And how do beans work??? Cook them and then dry them? I know it has to make sense or else people wouldn't do it, I'm just not seeing how.

Whispelite advice
PostI admit I didn't find that one while I looked through the threads. I was hoping for a comparison of the three, but since everyone is saying the original was the better of the three, I'll probably go with that. Also, the christmas theme is neat, a little hard on the eyes, but neat.

Whispelite advice
PostI've been thinking about getting a liquid fuel stove for the winter. I love my pocket rocket but it fall short when there's more than just me. I was considering a whisperlite but there are three versions. I'm unsure of which one to get. The original one boasts a more efficient fuel consumption and boil rate. The international is able to use different fuels and has a different base, and the universal can use fuel cans. Any thoughts?

PostQuote from AnotherKevin: “Quote from Tangent: “I just changed from a prolite 3 to a NeoAir all season. No complaints, but it's not ultralight at 19oz. I like the extra loft from a blowup vs self inflating. It's awesome for the winter, I just hope it's not too hot for the summer.” I reiterate: In deep winter in Appalachia, you need two pads, and one of them has to be foam. If all you have is an inflatable, if it springs a leak on the trail you're hosed. Maybe even "freeze to death" level hosed.” I…
