Quote from Dmax: “Ok, ok South of Damascus, north of Davenport Gap. It was taken down within the last ten years. I don't remember which year. I thought it was just a few, but time flies.... ” At first I thought it might be that little ramshackle shelter between Double Springs Shelter and Abington Gap Shelter. Went past it in 2009.

  • Took me a little bit to figure out that you were going North to South. LOL. Last year (2019) I did Catawba VA311 to Daleville. I'd previously been to MacAfee's Knob 2 other times on day hikes so I really enjoyed hanging out for awhile enjoying the view from Tinker Cliffs.

Glad you kept at it! Have you hiked all of GA? ” Yes, I've hiked from Springer to Wayah Gap. I also hiked from Springer to Amicalola on NY's Day 2010 with several women from the old Women's Hiking List. I've also done a section in TN, several sections in VA, started in Harper's Fe…

Quote from IMScotty: “....since I never explicitly answered Trillium's post, I am going to call it out. That was the Stover Creek Shelter. ” Yes, Scott is correct. That was my very first night ever backpacking. As I had never backpacked before, I was somewhat leery and had some fears, particularly about animals during the night. So, one of the women on WB, whose name escapes me, organized a Hen Hike, and so I thought that if I went with a group of others for the first time that it would be a gre…

Quote from IMScotty: “Speaking of drought, the fall foliage is turning unnaturally early. ” fall foliage has been a few weeks later than usual here. Still looking good but not quite as bright as a wk ago. As far as the weather, some would say we're having Indian summer this week, temps in the 60's. I think it's just climate change. Intending to get out and take advantage! I'm a person who definitely agrees about Neil Young's voice. I either fast forward or mute when he's the main vocals on songs…

Glad I live in Michigan for many reasons, not the least of which is that the chance of me hitting a moose in Michigan is very slim. Although we did see one once, up in the UP, on the way to Taquamenon Falls.

When our daughter was in elementary school, 1993 if memory serves, we camped in the Cades Cove campground for about 5 days. Great time. We drove the Cades Cove loop several times. Once we went to the parking lot for the Abrams Fall trail and hiked it. Another time we just drove the loop watching for the wildlife; we saw deer and about 4-5 bears. There also was a concession where you could ride horses on a trail ride, my memory is that just my daughter and I did so and the husband declined. Even …

And for the presidential election. 45 can't manage money either and I believe that the people who voted for Kemp likely voted for Trump as well. So, I don't think that managing money had much to do with the outcome of the Georgia gubernatorial race. More likely, color and gender. And I daresay, that Abrams would have managed the response to the pandemic better.
