Still have, and use, a fair amount of EMS branded equipment. The avy shovel and my beater down coat are with me on a lot of trips in particular. (Which reminds me, I really, really, really, need to clean that coat. ) When I was in Rhode Island, it was a "real" outdoor store not far away.

    - Swiss Army Knife Classic p51.jpg I’ve briefly written about this little knife before. Along with the P51 can opener and my Photon II light, it is something I bring on every trip and also carry every day. (More by accident than by design, the plastic casing came off. Ends up being better that way: less bulk and weight) For non-technical hiking and backpacking, I really have not had a use for anything else. Cut some string, open a package, slice some cheese or summer sausage? Works well enough. …

  • Backpacker Magazine-Nothing but a shill

    PaulMags - - General

    Post

My former wife gave me a copy of backpacker magazine circa 1989 as it featured the triple crown. Anyway, some you may find the thoughts interesting: pmags.com/backpacker-magazine-march-1989 TL;DR - Yeah, backpacker magazine is fluffy and is gear heavy. I'd argue that's what people want at this point overall however.

Quote from Rasty: “ I'm going through a very quiet civilized separation. We are on track to divorce but are living in the same house until the kids are out of school. About 18 months to go. ” Sorry to hear this. Good luck. Must be hard to live with someone you've decided to separate from.

Quote from Drybones: “Be thankful it's happening while you're still young...you still can have a life....Blessings are often hidden in adversity. ” Divorced and 42 is actually better then being 42 and never having been married in all seriousness. At least in terms of dating women my age. Had a good time last night. First date in seven years. Taking it slower as I really don't want to jump into anything too fast. We'll see... Quote from ScareBear: “Quote from PaulMags: “As I said, why a person with a master's degree, no debt and no kids who is involved with a cult needs alimony is another story... ” Well, the simple and not-so-sad fact is that the Family Court doesn't want to have a multi-day trial on the issue of whether one spouse NEEDS alimony or not in every single case. The reasons are many. One that many people don't consider are un-lawyered litigants. Having a formulaic approach to BOTH child support AND alimo…

Well, appropriately enough in a twisted way, we finally came to a settlement on Valentine's Day...what I offered back in early October!!! Yeesh. Many thousands of dollars in collective lawyer fees just to get what I promised five months ago. She is spinning the narrative I am the one who backed out of our agreement, but I have emails from her friend admitting she changed her mind. My lawyer and I won three victories recently and she stood to lose more. On my part, it was not worth paying more mo…

  • Katahdin is an iconic mountain. Easily the best finish of the triple crown trails. But unless you just want something to hang on the wall, you don't have to finish there. The new Katahdin Woods and Waters NM looks pretty cool.
