We're having some serious winter. I can't tell how much snow has fallen because the winds, which are gusting to 50mph is having a big effect on depth. There might be a 2 foot high. drift right next to bare ground. The falling snow and high wind is causing white out conditions, making driving difficult.

Outdoor Research makes some good products. I have a pair of their fleece mittens that are part of a set that comes with nylon overmitts. They work good too. I hope your mittens help you enjoy winter.

Me, Kathy, and our son took a little walk today. We went to an ocean beach for a little stroll. There was a mostly clear blue sky with just a few clouds. The temperature was about 30 degrees and the wind was howling. We walked several miles along the beach and then walked inland a bit to get to the boardwalk that runs as a street between the houses. Kathy and I have been working on the Long Path between New York city and Harriman state park in day hikes. So on Saturday we drove north and at about 12:30 parked the car on the side of a road right where the Long Path goes into Harriman. From there we hiked south, away from the park, until we got to the point where we had left off last weekend. We took a quick snack break and then hiked back to the car.
