If doing a short section or overnighter I take along a 16oz Coke that's pre mixed with Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum. Nothing better than after a long hard day hiking than having a nice cocktail around a campfire before bed.

I few years ago my son and I were day hiking around Blood Mountain. We stopped at Mountain Crossings for a snack. We were on the patio and Baltimore Jack struck up a conversation with my son. They talked for a long time about hiking and baseball. At the end of their talk Jack tore a AT patch off his vest and gave it to my son.

I got the zipper of my sleeping bag terribly snagged in the material. The pliers on my small multi tool were very helpful in giving me the grip to pull it lose.
