The brain absorption of the route has begun. I have been in contact with 10K for info and the shuttle. I am getting somewhat excited for this road trip/ walk. I had to change from the second week of June to the third. I would have missed Mackenzies High School graduation.appalachiantrailcafe.net/index…f4c2c8e7c93a14f0adc92cae6

It is a club, they maintain that shelter and 10 miles north and south of that shelter. There are about 10 very active folks, all good people. Jokers, most!

I must get out once a week.... Work weekends are like long days..... But every other I must get out. Connecticut is loaded with day hikes. This one stretch of the Metacomet I had passed by hundreds of times in my life. If you have driven up Interstate 91, you have gaulked at this escarpment every time as I have! It was a very cool walk of 6 miles. Once up on top it roller coasters to each cool cliff. From spot you can see Lawn Guyland to the south, and turn around and there is Mt. Tomappalachian…

Quote from LIhikers: “I've hiked the C+O, as well as the Great Allegheny Passage, and saw every kind of bike using these trails. My recommendation would be to have a sturdy set of wheels built accommodating the widest tires that will fit in the frame. Then use a fairly low gearing so you can keep going over the roots, ruts and mud. Racks and fenders front and rear would round out a good rail trail bike. ” Paul, you are discribing just what I had in mind.
