I didn't think e bikes were allowed on the Silver Comet Trail (the rails to trails conversion near me which goes from Cobb County to Alabama) but I saw some. Turns out they are legal as long as you keep it under 20 mph. They must have changed the rules; I know when it first opened 20 or so years ago I'm sure I saw signs that said it was "non motorized". I'll have to look for the signs next time I go and see how they've changed.

The conference suspended the batter 2 games for taunting. They suspended the pitcher 4 games for the attack; but the college has already kicked him off the team. The conference also suspended a bunch of players 2 games for leaving the dugout and coming onto the field after the attack.

I haven't noticed a pattern but it's certainly possible as the questions are written by a human being who may have an unintentional bias as to how the answers are presented. I'll start paying attention -- I like number games. So Doyle has done X number of thru hikes. Picture how you define a thru hike in your mind. Now...how many of those do you think has Doyle done?

I'd feel safe -- Covid is still out there -- catching an A's game. After "attracting" 3,748 on Tuesday, they beat that last night with 2,703. Reminds me of a Braves game in the 70's on a hot August night where the attendance was 500 something. The Braves had 4 years in the 70's where average attendance was less than 10,000 per game. The worst was 1975 was when the average attentance was 6,683. Surprisingly, this was only 23 out of 24 MLB teams -- the Giants averaged 6,456. Start of last nights g…

Jake Peavy won a gold glove in 2012 so of course he used his actual gold glove when pitching for the Bananas (who comes up with this stuff?) My first reaction was they just spray painted a regular glove gold. But...google tells me a MLB gold glove is "made from gold lamé-tanned leather and affixed to a walnut base". And every news source is reporting this as factual. So it's possible...true or not ya gotta love the creativity. If this is not legit they fooled a lot of reputable news sources (I g…

That's pretty sad reading. There have always been "pink blazers" but this seems to have progressed way past that. Thanks for posting the link. You've posted previous years, and I enjoy the various other surveys (linked at the bottom). I think it's interesting to see what shoes, tents, food, etc that the current crop of hikers are using.

Triple play the hard way. <snip> In what ended up being a 4-1 loss, Virginia turned a terrific double play with a step-on-home-throw-to-first move. But first baseman Devin Ortiz thought it was out No. 3, so he tossed the ball toward the mound and began to walk off the field. He realized there were only two outs and a runner at third was coming home. So Ortiz ran, grabbed the ball and threw out Sky Duff at home for a very unconventional triple play. They got beat so it's not totally like the Washington Generals playing the Harlem Globetrotters. They are now 8-3 on their World Tour. Family entertainment; we took the boys to see the Globetrotters every year for a while, I sure they would have enjoyed this also. The guy on stilts (9' 11") came on in relief. I gotta say...I enjoyed the rule that prohibits the batter from stepping out of the box. If you do it it's a called strike -- so no one did it Next move is yours, Manfred. They've sold out …

The Georgia AT has plenty of road crossings, both "normal" paved roads and forest service raods, so it is easy to pick a section that fits your mileage preferences. For a 50 mile section, you can start at Springer (the start of the AT) which is accessed on a good forest service road and hike to Unicoi Gap on GA 75 which is on a paved road with a large parking area. There are towns both east and west of the gap about 10 miles away. For a 60 mile section you could start at Amicalola Falls State Pa…
