Did a challenging hike today at Frozen Head SP, my hardest since foot surgery. 3+ miles of climbing then had to turn around and descend. Should have been 2.5 but I missed a trail. I was very slow. Lunch was ham and Swiss with mustard on turmeric walnut sourdough.

Last weeks loaves were plain whole grain and turmeric walnut.

Now that the weather is cooler, it’s time to bake bread. Today I milled spelt and kamut into flour for my next batch. One of my loaves from last week, sun dried tomatoes and garlic. It was delicious.

I went on a wonderful hike with the girlies last week, they are great hikers! They were particularly interested in a hole in the ground. It was rainy but we’re not afraid of rain. The fall colors were gorgeous…my pics don’t do it justice. (Middle creek wildlife management area in PA. In February, it’s a great place to go to see snow geese.)

I get a lot of interesting (to me) creatures at my house. The moth is a white-lined Sphinx. The snake was behind my oven…peeked his head out from the top of the stove when I was cooking.

I think he’s just looking to argue with someone…doesn’t realize we’re just a bunch of old fogies listening to Peter Paul and Mary.

My walk today… I love fall.

I worked my azz off last week to pay for this trip…3 extra work days! And then got scammed out of $1000+ on VRBO on a fake beach rental. Ugh!!! Why are people so $hitty? Hello friends! Please tell me about Acadia NP. What is it like in early October? Are there any must-see landmarks? If you only had one day to hike in Acadia in early October, where would you go? Any other advice about traveling in Maine is appreciated!

Spent a few days on the New River Trail…biked nearly 50 miles and had tons of fun. I got to use my Tenkara rod but alas, no bites. I’ve discovered the Greenbrier River Trail in WV and plan to bike it soon. Can’t wait! Has anyone done this trail?
