Another question that it helps if you've walked it before. My wife met me at Hot Springs and we rented a canoe from an outfitter and spent a couple hours paddling this easy river to the take out point.

Quote from Wintergreen: “Thanks for the advice, Max Patch. Would you say having to time your hike to the post office hours is a consideration also? I would need to be back to my job in June 2024, but do realize that it could be a cold start. Beginning of March, perhaps? I believe I can do an overall 12 mile average, slower starting miles, picking up distance as I go along. That is 89 days to Harpers Ferry without zeros. We shall see how it comes together. More zeros due to weather with an early …

I used resupply boxes mailed to the P.O. on my thru and if I were to do another one I wouldn't do it again. Still had to go to the grocery store almost every single time anyway for cheese and bagels and whatever else looked good at the time. The only advantage the resupply boxes had was that it made my wife feel like she was part of my hike as she was the one preparing and mailing the boxes. And as one who considers backpacking a 3 season sport, I'd start a month later.

My Honda Element FB group has an annual ride the 2nd weekend in May; this year they had 140 Elements riding the Dragon together. Not anything I'd care to do but they seem to have fun and the event grows every year.

Wonder if that will be better or worse? Find out soon. I started out with wide mouth nalgenes years ago.

I can relate to the knee comment. I think the hike N off of Springer is superior on the BMT than the AT. The view from Owen Vista is superior to anything you'll see on the AT. The BMT intersects the AT just a short distance N of the Springer parking area on FS42 which makes a nice dayhike loop using the 2 trails.

I'm not going to say anything crazy like NJ was one of my favorite states, but I will say it was among the biggest nicest surprises I had on the trail. My image of NJ was based on years of SNL skits and it was much nicer that that. It's actually a nice place for a walk. But I still wonder what lies on the other side of the corridor.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Mike Lindell, better known as the MyPillow Guy, has disclosed that he is saving up to buy a Supreme Court Justice. “I’ve always wanted to own a Supreme Court Justice, but it seems like other guys have already snapped up the best ones,” he said. “I realized I’d better jump on this while there are still some left on the market.” Lindell bemoaned the fact that Justices such as Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch had already been purchased, but he acknowledged that they…
