We will put your number on the board. When a hiker comes in we put their trail name next to the number, take their picture and post it on Facebook so you can see who you purchased the item for. I still can't wrap my head around the concept of retirement and employment existing at the same time. rhjanes muddies the water even more by discussing "freedom" and "work schedule" in the same breath. Huh? I think we just have differing ideas about what constitutes retirement and work. You'll have to excuse my simple mind, but I'm either working (for a living) or not. In my case, I've been officially, legally retired for years. In other words, I have not been paid for work in years. The IRS kno…

on one hand you're talking about retirement on the other you're talking about working after retirement. Geez, talk about setting yourself up for failure. I agree with IMScotty, make sure you're financially ready for retirement then go for it. What you waiting for, you're 67. So you gonna wait til you're 75 before you can find the time to hike? Either get on with it or STFU. Edit: God, I sound like such a dick. I apologize, but please do go for it before it's too late. BTW, I'm a year older than …

speaking of which, i finally bit the bullet (pun intended) and got all my sore, crumbling teeth removed and have myself a shiny new set of dentures. i should say they are cheap temporary dentures until my mouth heals and the real expensive ones are made. to make this relevant i hear they make sonic cleaner rigs for dentures. yeah! my dentist told me to beware of a whole slew of problems for new denture wearers. okay 24 hours into it, i love it. pardon me for bragging, but it's been a long time s…

Love Hiking seems to mention a certain pay website with every post. Could this be nothing more than SPAM?

  • Words of advice, don't let anyone tell you how easy the hiking is in the southern Appalachians. Also, hiking 2 to 3 weeks is a lot different than doing a brisk day hike. you'll have to carry more, you'll usually need to get up and hike even before you begin to recover from the previous days hike. everything will hurt before you get used to the hiking/camping and 2 to 3 weeks is not enough to get used to the hiking/camping. Allow yourself some zero days, allow yourself some slow days and allow fo…

usually those ash locations are sited in convienant places to stop for a piss. very considerate. i don't care much about what happens after i die because i'll be dead ya know? i leave that life after death crap to the dim witted religious zealots. so i've told my heir to do what she wants, but if she spends much money to dispose of my rotting corpse then she's a frukin' idiot. so she says, okay i'm gonna have you cremated no ceremony, where do you want your ashes. again, why the fruk should i ca…
