  • whats the weather where you are?

Amazingly, it's a balmy 60* right now on the coast of Lake Erie. Downtown Cleveland is probably just a touch warmer cause of the traffic, people, etc. We just haven't had a very hot summer. That makes me worry about the winter. Especially with that super duper El Niño system sitting out West. Anyone think that El Niño thing is gonna have much effect on an East Coast winter? Trying to figure out if I'm gonna need to pack extra sleep gear and Yak-Trax or something for mid-March at Springer.

Said it may come in handy during a hike....appalachiantrailcafe.net/index…434d913725535ce5e1d3609e2 ” This is currently one of my favorites to take out with me. Except mine has the coating worn down from use, so it's not quite this pretty. Now that I'm a little jealous of the look I might have to see about just taking it all the way down and polishing it up. Yours looks really good!

Quote from socks: “Don't believe I ever saw that one. ” Pretty good movie if you like classics. Disney made it back around the 50's or 60's. Nothing compared to today's overwhelming action-packed "thrillers" but definitely a good movie.

Quote from LIhikers: “I have a son who lives in Mansfield, Ohio. Would that work for you? Then I could hike the AT when I visit him. ” For sure. Mansfield is about 1.5-2 hours south of me. I'd travel that just to reach the A.T. every week (at least!)

Damn I can't wait to get of the house! Beautiful pics! See the oral surgeon tomorrow finally. Not sure how long before I can get back to "strenuous" activity (their words, not mine) after that, but I can't wait. Those pics have me yearning to go find some sights. Thanks for sharing!

I was looking at the "recorded" numbers of people starting from Springer over the last 20 years or so and I was actually amazed by the increase every year. Subtle, but certainly rising every year without any influence at all. And I was worried about the potential incre…

  • Quote from max.patch: “if you believe supported speed hikes are in the best interests of the trail then she is an excellent selection. ” I really have to ask... Is her level of experience, her degree of knowledge, her aptitude, her efficacy, and pretty much her entire life, really defined by that one accomplishment? I honestly think she'll bring a great deal more than just the promotion of a pseudo-hiking style that only a handful of people are even remotely known for. But even if she were that …
