I figure that if I do some pretty simple modifications and add my tarp I would have a shelter system that weighs a little over three pounds. That's not too bad. And you are correct, I am tall. 6'6" comes in handy for changing lightbulbs or getting something from the top shelf but it sucks when looking for gear.

Bear Grylls Hammock
PostI just saw this hammock on YouTube. It looks okay for 60 bucks and has a attached bug net. It weighs in at 2.5 lbs but can get lighter. Does anyone know anything about this hammock? I would only be using one for the occasional weekend trip.

Talked to DJ earlier today via text. He's in good spirits but bummed out that something else happened that's interfering with his hike. I suggested he do what he can to invest in some trekking poles and maybe some micro spikes. Apparently he was carrying a ton of supplies that he was given. He thinks this extra weight may of added to the injuries.

Quote from TrainWreck: “OK, just keep us updated here so we'll know when he's getting close to Neels Gap :)” DJ sent me a text today and expressed his gratitude for your offer to pay for a night at MtnX, however he chose not to take you up on it. I guess he is trying to do this without staying at Hostels. Once again he says thanks.
