  • We are now thirteen days out from the Solar Eclipse of 2024. The (unreliable) 14-day forecast puts all of Northern New England under cloud cover. Buffalo , NY might see some sun. That would be about an 8-hgour drive for me. We will see what happens as the day gets closer.

  • I would have no problem buying a lightly used pack. Some people give hiking a try for one weekend and then decide it is not for them. Packs like shoes are not always a perfect match for an individual, so that may be another reason they are selling. I cannot advise you on warranties, but that is part of why used gear should be priced accordingly. If you get a great bargain, it does not matter as much.     The last Total Solar Eclipse to hit New England was I think in 1959, so I missed that one. This really is a once in a lifetime event for me, so I do not want to miss it. Yes, I am excited. I tried to make the 2017 eclipse that crossed the PCT in Oregon part of my section hike that year, but Oregon was on fire. Instead I just continued on my next section in California and had to settle for a very partial one. This is my last chance. And there can only be one OMO LI Hikers
