Quote from IMScotty: “Quote from max.patch: “The place would go bananas if Bill Lee played. ” oh, that would be great! ” lol, I'm just getting around to reading todays AJC, the the write up of the game is on the FRONT PAGE again. 77 year old Bill "Spaceman" Lee did in fact pitch an inning. He was followed by Jonny Gomes who grounded out and Jonathan Papelbon who pitched 1/3 of an inning while wearing a kilt. The Bananas have a General Admission Ticket only policy which turned into a madhouse at …

Speaking of obstructed view seats... This sounds like a good ticket at Fenway -- Grandstand 1, row 1, seat 1. But according to bookies.com it is the worst seat in baseball based on an algorithm that includes view obstruction from seat, distance from home plate, plate/seat angle, exposure to sun, rain and weather elements, proximity to concessions and restrooms and overall comfort. This seat at Fenway scored a 17 out of a possible 60. 17/60 seems pretty generous to me. masslive.com/resizer/v2/D33…

Quote from IMScotty: “In the lottery ” Did you get tickets for the Bananas at Fenway? The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (the main newspaper in Atlanta) had a FRONT PAGE article on Saturday about the Bananas playing that night in sold out Fenway. The article said that 200,000 ticket orders were received for the 37,000 capacity Fenway. On Wednesday before the game they released a few scattered singles and obstructed view seats and they went within hours.

Anybody with half a brain coulda seen this coming. Yet baseball and all the other major sports are in bed with the gambling sites. <snip> "PHOENIX — They receive death threats. They are followed home by strangers. They are abused and derided. They are Major League Baseball players, who can tell you all about the menacing threats that have been inflicted upon their lives since MLB and gambling companies got into bed together." "You hear it all, man," Arizona Diamondbacks closer Paul Sewald told U…

When I was googling to find out what this sport was I came across this on the Spikeball website: The sport of roundnet, aka "that yellow trampoline game" aka "if volleyball and foursquare had a baby" aka "enough with the wit I'd like to read the rules," is played 2 vs 2. A player starts a point by serving the ball down onto the Spikeball net so it ricochets up at his opponents. The returning team has up to 3 hits between them (think bump, set, spike) to return the ball back onto the net. The ral…

Well here's something I never saw before. I took the dog to the soccer fields for a walk and instead of the usual games I came across a RoundNet (also known as Spikeball) Tournament. They had 32 areas to play spread across 4 soccer fields. Watching it as I walked around the fields I noticed a similarity to volleyball. There were mens, women, and mixed teams participating. The action in the video below is gentler than what I saw, especially the serves, I guess to make it easier to explain the rul…

Sorry Ty Cobb, but effective tomorrow (Wednesday) you no longer have the highest career batting average. And Babe Ruth, you somehow just lost the highest career slugging percentage. Oh well, records are made to be broken or some such nonsense.

I do not recognize this "record". This individual has NEVER done what thousands of other thru hikers have done -- put on a backpack and hike from one terminus to the other. ” I believe that describes 9 of his 18 hikes. So 9 and "Never" don't seem equal to me…
