Storm - - Trip Planning
PostMy how things have changed around here. Place is really looking uptown. Just thought I would drop by and let all the old timers know I am still alive and kicking. Thinking about doing another long section this spring. Currently trying to drop a little body weight and work some kinks out of the old legs. Planning to start at the James River foot bridge and work my way north. Would like to at least get into Pa. on this hike but will play it by ear as always. Hope to get started around the first of…

Watchya doing for Christmas?
Storm - - Coffee Talk
PostHi Everyone, and a Merry Christmas. Just dropped in to let everyone know I'm still walking the trails and haven't gone to that big campsite in the sky. Wow, this place has really changed and looks good. Spending Christmas at home with family. Doesn't get any better than having 5 grandkids tearing the house apart. Wishing you all a great new year and hope to see you on the trail.

PostHi Guys and Gals, Thought I would jump on to let everyone know I haven't gone on the last hike yet. Been a very busy time catching up with all the things that didn't get done while I was out hiking for two months. I have been able to keep off all the weight I lost while hiking so I am pretty happy about that. Would be nice to start the next one at this weight. Thinking about going back and doing another section in the fall. Will have to see if I feel like hiking in September. The fever hasn't co…

PostOk, I got in the door finally. Almost ended up kicking it down. Rasty, why was my password change different in the German email? Is some german going to be hacking into my account pretending he is cool like me? Also not sure who the guy in my avatar is. Gotta change that in a hurry. Looks like a homeless person.

PostYep, called it a hike in Buena Vista Va. Did get to meet DH. Super nice guy. We shot the bull for an hour or so. If you are ever in that area I would sure say to contact him. He has plenty of info about the area.

PostQuote from TrafficJam: “Greetings from the trail. I'm having fun and loving life. I stayed at a campsite alone last night!!!! Thanks for all the education and helpful advice. It's been a great hike so far. Take care everyone.” Try not to get bored.

[quote Nice photos. Where is the zip line?[/quote That zip line swing thing was crossing a stream to get to the "Captains". He lets hikers camp in his back yard. Had the fridge full of cold sodas. There was a clothesline to dry your stuff. Water was available at an outside line. Everything was free and he didn't even ask for donations but was left a few anyway. He wasn't even home the night I camped there. Left a sign on the door that said "Gone Fishing, enjoy the pop."

PostHi All, I am in Buena Vista. Going to give DH a call shortly to let him know I'm in the area. I am going to call it a hike for this trip. Body has held up well but I am really bored. Was hoping to keep on going but when it stops being fun not much use pushing it. I'll probably regret it as soon as I get home. I hiked for two months and covered a little over 500 miles but they were good miles. No use pushing the envelope.

PostHi All. Got into Dalesville yesterday. Going to take a zero today and head out again Sunday. Pulled a muscle in my right calf coming down from Drangon's tooth and it slowed me down even more. Seems okay now. If you get a chance to stay at four pines hostel I would sure say do it. Joe and his wife were super. Don't challenge Joe to a gome of cornhole though, he plays all the time. Body is still holding up. Starting to get the Virginia blues and I still have a long way to go in Va. Hoping to find …

PostJust got into the Woods Hole Hostel. What a neat place. Going to get off the trail in a week or so to take care of some personal stuff then plan to jump back on and keep on keeping on. (old fart needs a rest anyway.)

PostHi All, Resting my weary feet in Marion today. Those rocks over Mt Rogers and the Highlands really took a toll on my feet. Got some close up encounters with the ponies, just amazing. Going to head north tomorrow and try to get to my next stop before the bad weather comes in Monday and Tuesday.

PostOh, not sure who asked what, no country gold working at uncle Johnie's that I met. And Sarge asked me if I wanted a job as maintenance man on a work for stay basis. Cold make more doing about anything else.
