Quote from socks: “"Close to Shore" By Michael Capuzzo about shark attacks along the NJ shore back in 1916. Gonna bring it to the beach on holiday. And on audio book "Jaws" we all know that one, eh? ” Close to Shore was an awesome book! If you like that one, you might wanna check out "Twelve Days of Terror" by Richard Fernicola.

Where to stay?
PostHave you looked into Pine Ellis Lodging, in Andover? pineellislodging.com or 207-392-4161 They have shuttles, trailhead pickup, offer slack-packing, etc... I haven't personally stayed there, but have heard good things about them. I thought it might work well if you had any need for shuttles.

Quote from Rasty: “A Rafting Guide Saved A Baby Bear That Was Stranded By A River buzzfeed.com/davidmack/noli-bear-rescue ” I first read that as the baby bear was saved by a rafting guide (book) when it was stranded by a river. When did the bear learn to row? When did the bear learn to read?? Who left the book? These are the questions that went through my head. Then I realized that some nice person saved a bear and that was pretty cool, too.

PostQuote from hikerboy: “maybe it was non alcoholic.either way it's not a good idea to call more attention to it.it was a very public celebration.if bsp had a problem with it I'm sure they're already aware of it. ” I rooted for Scott, but this probably wasn't the best choice for capping off his adventure. Someone from his camp should have said, "Hey - Let's save the party until we are firmly on the ground." If for no other reason than for PR purposes. Eat healthy, workout and you can set records! B…

Quote from twistwrist: “400 mile journal entry Eighty two miles of this hundred continued in the same manner as the last hundred ended...painfully. Tendinitis in both legs augmented the normal trail trials and tribulations. New Jersey gave way to New York which abruptly greets hikers with challenging hand over hand rock scrambles with appropriate names like The Ladder and The Lemon Squeezer, eyes pointed straight up and thoughts repeating, "How am I supposed to get way up there?" These are fun c…

Welcome to the Cafe! Take notes (mental, or otherwise) about what works and what doesn't work for you... Makes it easier to remember for the next trip. What works for someone else, might not work for you. It's okay to do things your way! You are the one who has to carry the pack (and everything in it), so your decision of what you want to bring will always be the most important. Take your time and enjoy the hike! Take pictures if that is how you like to remember things. Meet new people - there a…

PostQuote from Foresight: “I have 4 beagles, a Boykin Spaniel, a Lab and a Yorkie. Got a cat too. That's not him over there in my avatar, Snowball is a solid white bundle of badassery. ” That sounds like a full-time job! 8| How do you keep up with them all? Do you find yourself calling them by different names? Shoot, my mom used to do that and there were only 3 of us!

PostQuote from hikerboy: “well today should be an epic day, hes gonna have to pull a 50+ for sure, something he hasnt done in a while. its gonna go down right to the wire ” When he gets his first look at Katahdin, he will find a bit more energy within. I have no doubt it will go down to the wire, but I do think he will pull it off.
