I saw a goose walking in deep snow in Milwaukee. I guess not all geese are snowbirds.
Today I saw two squirrels running around in front of me on the drive.
Two days ago I saw robins on the AT between US 11 and US 220 (Troutville / Daleville).I am human and I need to be loved - just like everybody else does -
Went to a game dinner today, I saw: Goose, herring, venison, elk, alligator, salmon, boar, quail, and a few othersDogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

Spent last night at the 1st Bibbulmun hut with the girls.
In the morning we were treated to this spectacle. A "train" of caterpillars.
They took about an hour to travel less than 10 yards and we left them in a "pile up" when they came to a wooden retaining wall.Resident Australian, proving being a grumpy old man is not just an American trait. -
I had an interesting one today. I was finding corners ahead of time on a rugged piece of property so I could better plan how I was going to go about traversing the boundary. Well, when I go to leave there's a hawk laying in the middle of the road. He must have crashed into either a tree or an old mobile home that's abandoned on the property. He was laying on his back looking straight at me. He wasn't there when I came in, there's no way I would have not seen him.
I rescued a kestrel several years back and the lady at the raptor center went all gestapo on me. I finally told her if her plan was to continue insisting I was guilty of injuring the damn thing instead of taking him and doing the rehab that I would drop him on the floor, stomp him into a bloody mess and get my moneys worth out of it. Anyway, I learned right then and there that the juice wasn't worth the squeeze on helping raptors so I won't even touch one nowadays.
I took a picture and a video of him. Hell, I'm even leery of posting the video I took....but I will. Sadly, I left him there to die. I think he had broken his back, guess I'll find out when I go back out there.
Here's the video.....

Here's the view across the ravine from hell. I flagged this corner so I could see it from the small clearing off in the distance. Just past the clearing above the flagging on the right is where I found the hawk.....

And here's the hawk again....

I work with two rescues for hawks - one in Philadelphia and the other in New Castle.... and I don't do anything with Hawk Mountain. I have turned in injured birds most get clipped by trucks and cars... even though I am distant from a highway they show up in my yard bleeding... so I get them to the rescue there as fast as I can.Be wise enough to walk away from the nonsense around you!

Got my closest look ever at a Bald Eagle today. Went for a walk at our local park. There is a trail that goes through a meadow to the river. We saw the eagle coming up from the river. He got closer and closer and went directly overhead (could have pooped on us). He wasn't too high either. Just at the level of the tree tops. We used to see eagles about once a year. Now we see them about once a week. There must be several pairs nesting along the river.

We saw this group of four at Big Meadows (SNP) this weekend. We almost walked right by them, probably within 6 ft and we had our dog with us and they didn't even care. they were wagging their tails the whole time. I wonder what the one with the radio was listening to?"Dazed and Confused"

had a wild turkey fly in front of me when I was driving to work. Not sure what spooked him to fly right in front of a car. Don't usually see that. They usually stick to walking.

I saw a red bellied woodpecker and a goldfinch at my mom's bird feeder. My mom saw a rose breasted grosbeak for the first time, I missed it.

Just watched a black bear cross a busy street in Shelton CT. Cute little critter and first time I've seen one in town.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

Smaller than Norway and about the same as Deer Mice ( larger than House mouse) I asked the tech to bring one back to the office after capture... the feces is clearly elongated at 1/2 an inch a long tube vs a "jimmy" on a cake decoration. They say this is common but in PA the House rules... in 6+ years this is a first.

This weekend on the Ouachita Trail I ran into multiple snakes (including a copperhead), several birds, and lots of bear scat. But it is the over a dozen ticks that I picked off of me that still is reminding me of the trip. But fortunately no bulls eye.The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

I'm currently working in Myrtle Beach for Bike Week. A small lizard ended up on a display boot & the sales girl brought it(boot & all) up to me & said"I brought you a friend" I went to nudge it on me...it didn't like that idea & went running up her arm. Come to find out she is pretty squemish for a fam girl. My hearing should recover in a day or two. Where the little guy got launced to I hav no clue.
