One of the craziest wildlife things I've seen was a red fox playing with my son's cat, I'm guessing some way or other they made friends when the fox was young...it almost looked like courtship the way they were acting.

Never seen a flying squirrel, but we have a bunch of black ones around my house, less after I cut a bunch of trees down a few years ago.

Several years ago several of us went on a bike ride from St Louis to Vinncies, Indiana. We passed through Olney, IL home of white squirrels. The city is protective of these squirrels by giving them the right-of-way on city streets.
Lest we forget.....

double decker bluebird house? Blue birds are territorial. If one moved into one level it would never let another move in next door.

i saw my first white one about ten years ago in a small patch of woods bordered on three sides by roads and a traffic light we'd alwYs look for him while we sat at the light ...this was a known thing for folks in my circle I'm sure others noticed it as well...one day...he was not doin' so well in the middle of the intersection, have not seen one since.
Growing up in the same area for 45 years I never saw any black squirrels or beavers....they're everywhere now, funny how that changes.
Not sure how it quoted ya scotty...oh well -

Hiking thru New Jersey I saw blond squirrels, very pretty but did a number on my trekking pole handles when I ducked in to use the privy. They like salt.

Saw a deer (buck with small antlers) running through the parking lot of the industrial park. That was odd.

Saw two rabbits last night. Instead of dashing off the bicycle path into the brush, they ran a few yards in front of me.I am human and I need to be loved - just like everybody else does
