Birding is a lot of fun. I suggest bringing along a guide book on the next trip. You will be surprised how quickly you will know the common ones at a glance. Once you know the common birds, the unusual ones become easier to spot.LIhikers wrote:
Kathy and I spent yesterday afternoon paddling our canoe up and back in Huntington (the town where we live) harbor.
We saw lots of different kinds of water birds. There were ducks, geese, swans, egrets, cormorant, heron, tern, osprey and another that we didn't know what it was, all besides the usual seagulls. I'm not much of a birder but I figure it's got to be a good sign when there is a lot of wild life in the area. There was a lot of fish too but I don't know a thing about fish. It was very windy which caused quite a chop on the water and when going into the wind we moved verrrrrrry slowly. My arms are feeling it today.
Good to hear there is still some wild in the wildlife of Long Island Sound.
I may grow old but I'll never grow up.
