Nene, Big Island: The world's rarest goose and Hawaii's state bird. In 1952 there were only 30 Nene left in existence. Conservationists saved the birds from the brink of extinction, and today over 3000 Nene live in the wild.
I asked Nolan what he wanted to do in Hawaii, and his answer was to see a Nene. We went on a birding safari and finally found our quarry in Volcano National Park. This is my favorite photo of the trip because it made my son happy.“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,

My wife, Kathy was there today too. She did a walk around the lake. I wonder if you two saw each other.
Me, I'm still relegated to streets and sidewalks so I walked around our neighborhood. -

Took a walk with the kids today and found this in our local woods.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

While driving to a very remote part of SID Richardson Scout Ranch, on Lake Bridgeport Texas, Monday 2/26, we came across a flock of wild turkeys. Maybe 15 or 20. Most wisely headed up the hill away from the road, but a few decided to break along the road until they vanished into a thicket. There are some large birds in there. They were too quick and I was driving, to try for a photo.Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork

When I moved into my new house in 2020, I installed my squirrel-proof bird feeder ~10 feet from three mature arborvitaes. It took weeks for birds to finally find it and become frequent visitors.
Now, the arborvitae are filled with nests. That keeps my bird dog very happy as well as the neighborhood Cooper's hawk. Combination bird feeder / hawk feeder.
Trudgin' along the AT since 2003. Completed Sections: Springer Mountain to Clingmans Dome and Max Patch NC to Gorham NH

took the glass bottom boat tours at keybwrst. Saw fish. But the highlight was the dolphin playing in the boat's wake. (Pictures in other camera).
