      Some here have commented that that a hammock is too heavy - when in fact the experiences can be lighter. As tents have progressed from 5 pounds to lighter materialism so have Hammocks. People start at starter hammocks and move up just as they do with Tents. But there are good things and bad that change with the experience over time. Terms change, quality, and as we go lighter, some materials do not last as long outside. The sun can burn pin head holes in untreated sill nylon on a cheap tent in less than one season. With that I will share I have no interest in making a hammock from scratch, but you can. Here is a better way to get a lighter Hammock - but might not fit your needs yet.
