**ATTENTION!**THRU-HIKER ALERT!** BOLO! BOLO! Last night at 2 A.M. A SoBo hiker heading to Trail Days came into Darlington Shelter. He calls himself "Night Shade" cause he only hikes at night. He is about 6' tall and has a long brown beard, early 30's, wearing all black, no trekking poles, and a h at that says "Get Ya Some." He has an older external frame pack that is olive green looking. I woke up and he was gone and he took everything that was in
my foodbag with him including my stove and my can and left the bag on the ground behind the shelter. IF ANYONE SEES THIS MAN BE VERY CAREFUL WITH YOUR S TUFF! I have the feeling he only hikes at night so he can steal food and perhaps even gear from REAL HIKERS! Pass the word along the trail community and protect ourselves and maybe we can stop this guy from stealing anyone else's property! #angryhiker

Poor Joe. He threw away his old boots in Duncannon and started off with the new ones. After being on the trail for just a few days the new boots literally fell apart. Joe is hiking in flip flops for the next 24 miles until he gets to a WalMart.

I hiked the last 20 miles in Maryland with the front half of my soles delaminated. Strapping tape kept me from tripping, but I had to stop and re-tape the soles periodically. I walked from a shelter to a spring and back in flip flops once, but never again I hope. Joe must be in the worst place for flip flops, with Pennsylvania rocks.

I agree. Once I stepped on a pop too, cut my heel, had to cruise on back home......

Going to Riga Shelter today, Mile 1499,1. 686,2 miles to Katahdin to go.
The whole hiking thing is starting to get to us. Every day a long day, every day the same routine.
Oh well, in a couple of days we gonna be in Massachusetts, and then in Vermont and then.. and then.. and then.
Feels like there is always a next place where you have to be.
