When driving rig for Easyrider I bought a Bluetooth CB. It allowed me to take calls from my phone over the cb a a speakerphone. Following year there was a cash infusion & other drivers bought them on company money. I found a flaw, if you were on the phone no CB trasmisions would go thru. One day as two of us decided to pass a few slower trucks I hear of a cruiser coming at us. I heard the transmission & then saw him & pulled back into right lane. My buddy was talking on the phone! Despite several cb calls warning him & offering to let him over he just kept plodding along in left lane as cruisor caught up to him & was actually driving in dirt on side of road for him to see the lights for a few minutes!
Later he tried to defend himself by saying he was talking to one of the bosses. I asked If he initiaded the call, which ne admitted. Then beratted him for not checking his mirrors fo several minutes. Between cost of rig & inventory each one was $1,000,000! -

A bunch of us had a camp/cook out this week end, got to use the ultimate in outdoor cooking equipment, did a venison stew that was fantastic...we were in a primitive campground where I've camped many times and never seen anyone patroling for booze...did this time, and had a lot of beer confiscated, thankfully he only asked about beer or we'd have been in trouble the rest of the night...he said nothing about the tequila, Jack and Evan I had and the untold items Eda had brought from a recent trip to Estonia and Russia to try and all the other stuff the rest of the folks had....lesson learned....always carry multiple items in case of emergency.I may grow old but I'll never grow up.

Where are you flying to MP?
Also you look a lot different than I imagined.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -

Annie's pic of me on the Cape to Cape gets featured regularly. I think they pick a pool of photos with good scenery (e.g. beaches and big trees) and they seem to pick people with multiple journals too.Resident Australian, proving being a grumpy old man is not just an American trait.

For those that were aware of her hike Bag Lady (AT2007) completed the Bibbulmun Track on Saturday morning (Friday night USA EST). Since last night (Sunday morning US) she is staying with Annie and I for an undetermined time but probably less than a week. She will presumably update her blog soon. Her original plan was to now cycle from here to Adelaide in South Australia but as we are heading into severe hot weather out that way she will probably cycle back to Perth staying close to the coast and then fly somewhere else in the world (yet to be determined possibly even back to the USA for a time). And while a lady's age is not a subject for open discussion she is my senior by a reasonable margin. Encouraging thought for all of us feeling the creaks and groans of advancing years.Resident Australian, proving being a grumpy old man is not just an American trait.
