Home for a few days. Just back from Myrtle Beach Bike Week. Boss took a gamble at our location & it was a dud. I did pick up a new wireless modem while I was there so I now have internet at my hut & don't have to haul battery, & laptop up the hill when I want to get online. Hoping to get the rest of the downed logs stripped so the bugs don't get in them & the garden weeded before I head out. Off to the shop for a few days, then Ohio Bike Week in Sandusky. After that I'm back at Fort Bastion for a while to continue working on it.

if you're like me and think that seinfeld is the greatest show ever on television then this video is worth a watch.
The Leaning Susan” is a new original episode of the sitcom Seinfeld performed by the Upright Citizens Brigade sketch team Bellevue. Members of the sketch team do impersonations of the show’s classic characters including a dead-on Elaine Benis impression by Cathryn Mudon.
The episode also features the return of George Costanza’s long-dead fiancée Susan Ross, as well as a number of bizarre parodies based on footage from 1990s commercials.

in the public vs. private school debate, parents who send their kids to private school already show an interest in giving their kids their best learning environment. it starts at home. to many parents leave everything up to the system to educate and babysit their kids. i read to my kids every night, i also made up "silly stories" a new one every night where i would just make up stories with them as leading characters in the stories. i encouraged them to imagine, to dream, and to question everything.
they went to public school, as i did. myc has two of the best high schools in the country, stuyvesant high school and the bronx hs of science, which i attended.
if you want your kids to learn, help them develop their natural curiosity and they will learn.regardless of the school they attend.its all good -
Good point of helping your kids. I have a niece that was having a hard time in math. I spent a little time with her and now she gets it. She just had a hard time understanding the teacher. Her younger brother now calls me for social study questions.
I would like to see a true percentage of parents that send their children to private school for the higher education.
I attended private school for jr high and high school. But not because we had money. My dad was a minister in the episcopal church and they owned the school, so I went there for free. I didn't fit in too well in the later years when money became a factor to the kids. Oh well, you either have it or you don't. They wouldn't of had it if it weren't for their parents....
A lot of parents send their children to private school because they are afraid of public school. Not the school itself but the rougher atmosphere of the students.
Others send their kids there to keep up with the Jones.
The richest families in town sent their kids to Brownell-Talbot because that's where the others sent their kids. It was more posture than education.
My sister worked her way and paid for an all girl private school. I sure wish I could have gone there! -

woman calls irs, call is broadcast live on the howard stern show.
A woman in Cape Cod thought she was just talking to an IRS representative over the phone, but what she — and apparently the agent — didn’t realize was that their call, including her personal info, was being broadcast to listeners of Howard Stern’s radio show.
The woman tells WBZ-TV that she simply called the IRS to discuss a personal tax issue. Meanwhile, the IRS rep she was speaking to was on hold while trying to call into Stern’s program. At some point, Stern took the IRS rep’s call off hold, but the man didn’t realize that he was now on the air and he continued to discuss matters with the taxpayer.
In the WBZ footage above, you can hear Stern trying to get the man’s attention by shouting his name, while co-host Robin Quivers tells Howard, “If he’s working we can’t interrupt him.”
“I said, ‘Are you talking to Howard Stern?'” recalls the woman. “And he says something to the effect of ‘I was’ or ‘I was on hold’ or something like that.”
Enough of the woman’s info, including her personal phone number, got out during the call that she says she’s been the subject of prank calls and that she’s now considering her legal options.
“My phone number is out there,” she explains, “my personal conversation and I just feel terribly violated and I feel like I’m in jeopardy that my credit information might be out there and I’m just totally devastated.”
The IRS tells WBZ that it knows about the incident, presumably because they were all listening to the show when it happened, and that it’s looking into the situation.
“The IRS takes the confidentiality of taxpayer information very seriously, and we have high standards that we expect and require employees to follow,” reads the statement.

BEST EMAIL OF THE DAY....from a good friend.
.
As I came out of the supermarket that sunny day, pushing my cart of groceries towards my car, I saw an old man with the hood of his car up and a lady sitting inside the car, with the door open.
The old man was looking at the engine. I put my groceries away in my car, and continued to watch the old gentleman from about twenty five feet away.
I saw a young man in his early twenties with a grocery bag in his arm walking towards the old man. The old gentleman saw him coming too, and took a few steps towards him.
I saw the old gentleman point to his open hood and say something. The young man put his grocery bag into what looked like a brand new Cadillac Escalade. He then turned back to the old man. I heard him yell at the old gentleman saying:"You shouldn't even be allowed to drive a car at your age." And then with a wave of his hand, he got in his car and peeled rubber out of the parking lot.
I saw the old gentleman pull out his handkerchief, and mop his brow as he went back to his car and again looked at the engine. He then went to his wife and spoke with her; he appeared to tell her it would be okay. I had seen enough, and I approached the old man. He saw me coming and stood straight, and as I got near him I said, 'Looks like you're having a problem.'
He smiled sheepishly, and quietly nodded his head. I looked under the hood myself, and knew that whatever the problem was, it was beyond me. Looking around, I saw a gas station up the road, and I told the old man that I would be right back. I drove to the station and I went inside. I saw three attendants working on cars. I approached one of them, and related the problem the old man had with his car. I offered to pay them if they could follow me back down and help him.
The old man had pushed the heavy car under the shade of a tree and appeared to be comforting his wife. When he saw us he straightened up and thanked me for my help. As the mechanics diagnosed the problem (overheated engine), I spoke with the old gentleman.
When I shook hands with him earlier, he had noticed my Marine Corps ring and had commented about it, telling me that he had been a Marine too. I nodded and asked the usual question, 'What outfit did you serve with?'
He had mentioned that he served with the first Marine Division at Tarawa, Saipan, Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal ...
He had hit all the big ones and retired from the Corps after the war was over. As we talked we heard the car engine come on and saw the mechanics lower the hood. They came over to us as the old man reached for his wallet, but was stopped by me. I told him I would just put the bill on my AAA card.
He still reached for the wallet and handed me a card that I assumed had his name and address on it and I stuck it in my pocket. We shook hands all around again, and I said my goodbye's to his wife.
I then told the two mechanics that I would follow them back up to the station. Once at the station, I told them that they had interrupted their own jobs to come along with me and help the old man. I said I wanted to pay for the help, but they refused to charge me. One of them pulled out a card from his pocket, looking exactly like the card the old man had given to me. Both of the men told me then that they were Marine Corps Reserves. Once again we shook hands all around and as I was leaving, one of them told me I should look at the card the old man had given to me. I said I would and drove off.
For some reason I had gone about two blocks, when I pulled over and took the card out of my pocket and looked at it for a long, long time. The name of the old gentleman was on the card in golden leaf and under his name was written:'Congressional Medal of Honor Society.'
I sat there motionless, looking at the card and reading it over and over. I looked up from the card and smiled to no one but myself and marveled that on this day, four Marines had all come together because one of us needed help. He was an old man all right, but it felt good to have stood next to greatness and courage, and an honor to have been in his presence. Remember, OLD men like him gave our FREEDOM for America. Thanks to those who served and still serve, and to all of those who supported them, and who continue to support them.
America is not at war. The U.S. Military is at war. America is at the Mall. If you don't stand behind our troops, PLEASE feel free to stand in front of them! Remember, Freedom IS NOT free. Thousands have paid the price, soyou can enjoy what you have today.

Spent last night hanging from two trees in the back yard, best nights sleep I've ever had outside, wish I'd gone to a hammock years ago. I love my tent set up, it's cozy and it's quick, but I toss and turn all night with an aching back when I'm on the ground. I made a camo hammock and have ordered a 20* TQ and UQ...they're multi functional, plan to deer hunt/sleep in it.I may grow old but I'll never grow up.
