Frat boys are assholes
Does that mean we're all frat boys or that we need to invite these kids to join the Cafe?Do your duty in all things. You cannot do more, you should never wish to do less. - Robert E. Lee -
.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -

I would like to apologize for some of my recent posts.
When I hiked the AT in 2013 I went through a pretty tough spell mentally. The hurt i felt from several sources cut deeply. Two of them have always particularly galled me for their holier than thou attitude coupled with a very high degree of anonymity.
I found when people found out that I was candid about not having hiked every white blaze, they invariably admitted their own "deviations".
I only knew 3 people who I could say were "pure". In my opinion, one nearly killed himself on Mt Washington maintaining his purity, and I delighted in pointing out to the other two that by hiking a portion under reconstruction instead of the official deviation they had not walked the official trail as it was that day.
And I didn't actually like their personalities either.
So I will continue to dislike lectures from those that despite all their protestations of adhering to the principle of HYOH, really interpret it the way my daughter described it... "Hail Your Own Holiness".
I am glad only one of those PIA's from 2013 followed me here.
Every time I hear one of your hiking stories I think, damn he knows how to have fun. And I'm jealous.
I know I would love to hike with Oz!
Don't know how long I could afford all of the steaks and town stays. But it should would be fun while it lasted. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Yeah, but the problem with a virus is that it sometimes leaves damage behind it.

its been a long time since i herd the term"getting mono"
When i was in the Academy I came down with "mono"... Knocked me out for 2 1/2 weeks! I insisted they take me off sick report.
I swear I "got" it from the academy gym floor, which while you were doing push ups and other calisthenics, pubic hair tumble weeds would drift past you. I swear I don't think they ever cleaned that floor! Nasty!RIAP -

There's supposed to be a big bank auction there this Saturday, the 14th. I wuz thinking of running up there and picking up some property near the AT.

Hey, what you doing over here. I'm having a conversation with you in the other thread.

Nah, I'm gonna stay away from hikers. They smell like hippies cuz they don't use deodorant. I know that makes me intolerant. Hey, those 2 words rhyme. Sounds like limerick time to me. That might get too preponderant.

I thought so too and I'm watching it over and over to try and confirm. I'll let you know what my studies reveal. I wonder if I could start a Gofundme to pay for my research.Do your duty in all things. You cannot do more, you should never wish to do less. - Robert E. Lee -

i used to go there to ski until they closed the ski resort maybe 10 years ago.
i wouldn't call it close to elijay. its 441 north of clayton and then you turn east. (dicks creek gap is about midway between hiawassee and clayton) probably 30 miles sky valley to dicks creek.2,000 milerThe post was edited 1 time, last by max.patch ().

Crazy day today. I was driving my daughters old mustang convertible and lost control on the wet pavement and wrecked. The damage isn't too bad but I'll be sore tomorrow. I refuse to cancel my hiking plans though.
That pushed me to finally make the decision to buy a car and I'm now the owner of a Subaru Crosstrek.Lost in the right direction. -

Now you will be able to get to backwood trail points. I kinda dislike Subaros after I had to get pulled off the beach by on in a company S-10. Made it about 30' up the sand on acess road & dug in. The four wheel drive engagement link failed. Kida embarassing.

Now for the important decisions. Do I put my hiking stickers on the back or side window? And do I get a share the road plate or an AT plate?Lost in the right direction.

With all the mile on it you can probably sniff your own pack from anywhere in your house!
