My dad was an oficer/engineer in the Merchant Marines. They were unloading ballast (rocks) on D-Day. They did bring part of Patton's Red Ball Express the next day. The Red Ball express semis had big red balls painted on them and the columns on the road were to move aside when they saw them coming behind them. A lot of the drivers got in trouble for confiscating the equipment and gas.[/quote]
