RIP Ray Liotta aka Shoeless Joe.
My son: "Ray Liotta from Goodfellas died."
Me: "You mean Field of Dreams."
One of the many problems I had with Field of Dreams was that they had him batting and throwing from the wrong sides. I consider it the movie supposedly about baseball made by people who knew and cared nothing about baseball. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

I enjoyed his characterizations in every movie I saw him in. Goodfellas and FOD's both are classics. Lorraine Bracco's post was touching about his passing. She said people still tell her how much they enjoyed Goodfella's. And then often ask what was the best part of being in it. Her reply is "Ray Liotta".Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork

Old news about the Crawfords that I didn't know til now.
<snip>
The Crawfords have embarked on family adventures for two decades. In 2002, Ben and Kami—with their newborn, Dove, in tow—began a westbound cycling trip across the United States. Early in the journey, they encountered a horde of AT hikers in Virginia and became intrigued. When the cycling trek culminated in a collision with a car (despite the lack of helmets, everyone was mostly OK), they purchased backpacks with the insurance payout.

I didn't notice the mispelling at the time, but it sure does bother the twitterverse.
TBH, I was just glad to get a FJ question I knew the answer to.

Congrats to Ole Miss.
Ole Miss, which started off the SEC Conference play with a 7-14 record -- and finished 5th in the 7 team SEC West Division with a 14-16 record -- is now considered the best team in college baseball. Not bad as they were the last team to make the tournament field. Probably should be noted that the SEC was considered the strongest conference in college baseball.
Kennesaw was in the tournament this year and actually won a game.2,000 miler -

In discussing the college basketball tourament Mike Wilbon said that for a team to be invited they should win at least half of their league games. Sounds goood to me.
Oh well, it makes good TV and that's the important thing. I guess.2,000 miler -
The outdoor concert at the Gardens Amphitheater tonight has Jerry Douglas, greatest Dobro player in the history of the Universe, as the opening act in an all bluegrass concert.
Next up is Sam Bush, father of progressive bluegrass (aka newgrass) on mandolin. And were not to the headliner yet.
Not all traditional. They fid blugrassified versions of reggae, Great Balls of Fire by JLL, and GH's While my Dobro Gently Weeps.
Now the headliner, Bela Fleck on banjo.

Hi folks! This is Willie Daly, who claims he is Ireland’s ‘Last Traditional Matchmaker.’
Every year in the month of September Willie presides over Lisdoonvarna’s Matchmaking Festival. As many as 40,000 people will descend on this small village in County Clare in hope of finding everlasting love. Willie claims he has facilitated over 3000 unions.
We met Willie on his Donkey farm near Lisdoonvarna. He gave Kathleen and I a tour of the farm, a small museum, and he skillfully demonstrated his gift for Blarney. Unfortunately for Kathleen, Willie did not use his matchmaking skills to find her the perfect mate. Kathleen is stuck with me, and I have no intention of giving her up.

OK Astro, now for the 'Rest of the Story.'
During our conversation Willie let it slip that he was divorced. Trust me, the irony was not lost on us, but we bit our tongues.
Willie said his ex-wife had been over that day to 'weed his garden.' We figured if an ex-wife was still coming over to weed his garden, maybe he really did have superhuman matchmaking abilities.

Ulster County in New York has a contest where kids 13-18 design a 'I Voted" sticker and they use the one that wins at the upcoming election.
I approve of the voters choice.

I like em all -- but one of them speaks to me.
And the leader and apparent winner, with 94% of the vote...
ETA: I kinda feel sorry for the young lady who came up with the woman holding the I Voted sign. That's my second choice (and also currently in 2nd place with 1% of the vote).
Our sticker looks kinda lame compared to all of these.
