I just got a $56 credit to my Amazon account from Apple ebooks antitrust settlement.

Concerts I attended were all back in the 1970s. And one or two in the 1980s.
Just for kicks, i counted all the books I read on my Kindle. Kind of interesting that my reading drastically tapered off after joining the Cafe.TrafficJam wrote:
Hmm, I've only bought a few "best sellers"...most of them don't interest me. I probably have 500 + books, not sure how to figure out how many.max.patch wrote:

200 books in one year? Were they comic books? That's impressiveTrafficJam wrote:

I've read a little over 10 thousand books in my lifetime.
I find classic literature to be boring. I read books on geology, astronomy, archaeology, basic science ( to keep up with advances), space program, science fiction. Some fantasy. The number above is what my relatives came up with about 15 years ago. My retina surgeries slowed my reading down a bit, and I hope to get back up to speed soon. I just don't have the money to buy lots of books, so I have gone to Guntenberg Project from time to time. Note that some sf authos are astronomers or physicists, so their books are cutting edge science which I don't always understand well.TrafficJam wrote:
Several times I tried to read the 100 best books of all times, thinking that would make me better educated. I never could get past the A's, kept falling asleep reading Anna Karenina.JimBlue wrote:

To TJ's point about reading to be cultured, when I heard the answer, I thought to myself, if that's true, it should be required reading, not as religion, but just to know what's in it, I bought a Bible and read it front to back, not what I was expecting, a little dry in the beginning (no pun intended) but got more interesting the more I read...it was a life changer for me.jimmyjam wrote:
