Let me add something to the list of 10 adventures, go dogsledding. Kathy and I did a 5 day (or was it 4 days?) dogsled camping trip and had so much fun we went back again the following winter! If you're a dog lover you'll get a fur fix of a life time.

Oh, and the tulip fields , from the 2nd link, do look like that. We got to spend 6 months in Holland in 1980 and the flowers were out of this world. Of course I did develop allergies, for the first time in my life, while we were there.

But I notice that one of the trails in my stomping ground made it on their list of 'thrill ride' trails. I'm looking to do the last bit of it (I'm missing the westernmost 6 miles or so) in September. The west end of it is supposed to get a lot easier than the part I've already done. It's a great trail for the weekender. There are several possible loops that bring you back to the car. (Of course, that more than doubles the mileage, but if, like me, you're not up to doing the whole thing in one go, it's a way to get it in smaller pieces.)

I grumbled at the picture in the article. The summit areas (over 3500 feet) are under permanent fire ban.
