5 PM news, weather forecast... possible snow flurries on Saturday night this coming weekend.

Forecast for snow and rain has gone down some (still getting down in the 20s), so should get to finish my last 16.5 (33) miles on the Ouachita Trail this weekend. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Rained the past two nights, took advantage of that to listen to raindrops falling on the tarp over my hammock, I have a minimalist tarp I use for backpacking and needed to test it a little more....stayed dry...owls kept me awake but I enjoyed listening to them.I may grow old but I'll never grow up.

Had planned a 1st quarter moon snowshoe hike for this pm, but snow showers persist. Fortunately most of the group is off Monday for MLK day, so we've rescheduled for Sunday eve.

Wound up not going hunting. Rain here so I probably did miss a bit of hunting in the snow. The oxbow we were going to hunt is only 30 miles from here, but it's not far from Table Rock SP and at a decent elevation. If your Doctor is a tree, you're on acid.

After weeks of hot weather and lots of bushfires through the southwest we now have rain. 23mm in last 24 hours. Expected to continue for next 3 days. Lots of lightning mixed in. Not unusual to have summer storms but 4 days of it is.
Still fires around (the rain is patchy and the lightning starts more).Resident Australian, proving being a grumpy old man is not just an American trait. -

16°F good time to test those outdoor threads... Or a no tent slumber party. OUTSIDE!Be wise enough to walk away from the nonsense around you!

Currently having storms and thunderstorms for an extended period. Not unusual to get a storm in summer but very unusual to have a 4 or 5 day spell of it. We are about halfway through and temps are about 10 celsius below average and I have had 2 1/2 inches of rain in last 48 hours.Resident Australian, proving being a grumpy old man is not just an American trait.

When I lived in Texas, never got used to hunting in short sleeves. Never lost meat as I carried a cooler full of ice in the truck to stuff into the body cavity to prevent spoilage.

everyone is preparing to hunker down and get hammered here. Let's see: food check, water check, tp check, bourbon check, I'm ready. 8" to 24" expected here. Looks like good times in the old jeep ahead."Dazed and Confused"

looking to get a whopping dusting to 3 feet here in the old dominion. along the coast they may only get a dusting but they are expecting high winds and tidal surge. better hold on to your dodads around here, looks like we're in for good one. National guard has already been called out."Dazed and Confused"
