Halloween was a real treat. Started out in the low 40's with swirling winds, then got progressively colder once the sun went down. Five minutes into the sugar-crazed zombie apocalypse (trick or treating), it started snowing.
By 19:30, no kids felt is was worth the effort to gain more candy.

65 today and sunny in North Texas. Colder here by Monday. Rain on Tuesday, then warm, then wet and cool. somewhat typical Texas. I hope it rains out before next weekend as our first Orienteering meet of 2024 is 1/6/2024. The venue is on the south side of Lake Texoma. I've been up there with ice in the forest and other times with it wet. It's not bad when you are in the forest but break out along the lake or a exposed hill and get hit by a 20MPH north wind off that lake with mist, your sweat.....

The early starters will have several days next week where the low temps will be in the single digits at Springer. And a couple days where the chance of rain is > 50%.

Snow from 4pm today to 7pm tomorrow. Original forecast 3-6 inches, now more like 1-3 fortunately.

Started three hours earlier, so maybe we will get the 3-6 inches. Drove really slow to get back home.Astro wrote:

We are at 7 with -6, and I am just hoping we can get back by Wednesday.Wintergreen wrote:
Nine below zero with a wind chill of -20 this morning. We still have school. We don't close for cold until it reaches a wind chill of -35.
Back in the day, the bus stop for my Catholic school was at the neighborhood public elementary school. Didn't matter where you lived in the neighborhood - it was the one stop. There were a number of times that the custodial staff would see us shivering in the cold and allow us to wait in the heated vestibule. Not every day... just the extra cold days when the bus was late. I think they technically weren't allowed to do it but used their own judgement.Wintergreen wrote:
