Got a few inches of heavy, icy snow last night. It made the place look like winter should, pretty again.
Kind of gray and wet all day.
I just got back from a drive at 10 PM. Odd thing is that it was raining even though it was 25 degrees out. As soon as the rain hit the windshield, it would turn to ice. The defroster and wipers could not keep up. Every couple of miles I had to scrape a little porthole to see out.“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,
the saddest are these, 'It might have been.”

They didn't get used yesterday. Much of the day was spent helping clear snow in the neighborhood.

Driving to work today I thought about how what's really bad weather for hiking isn't necessarily the worst for driving and what's worst for driving may not be so bad for hiking. Today driving wasn't so bad, but hiking in heavy rain, strong winds at 32 degrees would have been horrible. But if the temp had dropped five degrees, it may have been the other way around.

Tornado touched ground about 10 miles north of me yesterday afternoon. I was in my home office with music playing when my wife came in and commented on the sirens she was hearing from the front of the house. Turned the TV on to confirm that they were tornado warning sirens. Short, intense rain squall followed by sunshine.
We have to get used to living in the Midwest. Back in Pennsylvania, the sirens were for evacuation from the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant fallout zone.Trudgin' along the AT since 2003. Completed Sections: Springer Mountain to Clingmans Dome and Max Patch NC to Gorham NH

Yes. Just a phone. They were very bright.

WOW! My Dad would have loved that. I'm surprised that my husband didn't get me to go outside or that he didn't go out himself or even mention it.

One of my buddies moved from Connecticut down to Georgia. I like to joke that the main difference is he now needs his snow shovel in the spring instead of the winter.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

Storms and tornadoes today. Flash floods last Friday with our "dry" creek flowing into yard. Days like these make me glad I am not out hiking.
Fortunately followed by another great weekend again tommorow. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Today, Sunday, is gray and rainy. Kathy and I drove to a local town beach but we decided it was raining too hard to get out of the car. We parked at the far end of the lot, kind of by ourself, and watched the submarine races
