we do have ski slopes (little ones) that make snow when it's cold enough. But the cross country and snow shoe trails need natural snow. They are open but with just a few inches. The luge track isn't open yet due to the warm temps.

Funny a temperature you find warm enough to ride your bike, I find too cold to walk. Of course probably reversed for 90s. All a matter of perspective.

Yep, I don't handle the heat well. I've been to the hospital emergency room twice, over the years, for heat stroke.

As one who grew up in Florida, I have no doubt that if I attempted the dog sled trip you and wife took in MN that you told us about I would have ended up in the ER. Or worse.

I have hiked in GA in late July and on into NC in early August. Not a problem for me, but just like the yearly MLK hikes are not for LIHikers, but they might be for me.

The temps for the Mlk hikes have always been in the positive numbers ( I'm pretty sure ) but we have cancelled due to precipitation at those low numbers

Me too. We've had almost no snow this season. What we got last weekend was only about 1/2" average; at our house, a little less; up where we hiked at the State Park, a little more. I've never been snowshoeing and my sister said she'd take me when we get enough snow. So, snow, where are you?

Just finished a 6 mile walk in the 30s. While I much prefer warmer temperatures, at least it wasn't raining like much of the past few weeks have been. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

I grew up in the DC area but went to college at Valparaiso, which means I spent 4 Years driving back and forth through the snow belt of the IN/OH/PA turnpike. A lot of the time you just follow the light of the truck in front of you and hope he doesn't drive into the ditch. Once we had the whole road to ourselves because we were the first car to get on after being closed for several hours. The guy at the toll booth was asleep when we got there. Freshman year was particularly bad. That December, Paul Simon's "Slip Sliding Away" was a big hit. It was on the radio about every 15 minutes. I still hate that song.
