Was down to 7 last night, with a high of 22 today. Too stinking cold for this Florida boy. With the wind blowing, probably just end up walking in circles in my office building today. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

No telling when the current extreme cold might break - but they're predicting that it won't for another week or so at least. If it stays this cold, daughter and I are going to have to bail on Harriman, I think! (She hasn't camped in Real Winter before. We've had 'shoulder season' trips in snow, but she's only geared up for weather down to about 0 °F)I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here.

Harrisburg set the record low (1 F) for New Year's Eve at 21:00 last night. Woke up this morning to see -1.5.
It's weeks like this that make me forget the hassle of running my coal stove. 84 degrees in the basement and a warm 70 on the 1st floor without the electric baseboard heat coming on.Trudgin' along the AT since 2003. Completed Sections: Springer Mountain to Clingmans Dome and Max Patch NC to Gorham NH

8 degrees here right now. My house is over a crawl space, the floors are like walking on ice.
Next Saturday looks like it is going to be the coldest day yet.“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,

minus 4 this morning. Windchill down to 20 below. Everything is frozen solid. The snow from the 24th is still on the ground. The field mice are trying to survive in the garage. I feel bad putting traps out...may wait until it warms up and see if the dogs will keep them out...

Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -

My daughter isn’t happy. She’s a teacher and says she moved from VA to PA for the snow days yet still manages to miss the storm.
Be safe everyone.Lost in the right direction. -

For once this snowstorm has lived up top its hype. It is pretty impressive here, perhaps not in depth but definitely in intensity. My Boston area FB friends who live along the coast are posting flooding pictures that look epic. Damage should be substantial.
Still waiting for the snow to die down to start the shoveling, looks like I start about 9 PM. I'm gonna hit the shoveling hard all night because by the morning freeze this stuff is going to turn to concrete.“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,

The picture I took was from work, in Branford, Ct. I left at 3, in my Outback, and headed east 25 miles towards the storm. When I got home the snowfall was different and the wind was double the strength as in Branford. It is s very bad storm out there............ even for crazy peopleCheesecake> Ramen
