I've been doing some expediting lately for my friend who broke her shoulder; I drive and she rides shotgun. Anyway, on Wednesday we had a delivery up to Midland and as we were leaving, there was smoke to the north and east obscuring the skyline. Not sure it was drifting in from Canada; perhaps it was the fires in Grayling. -

The official weather station at GRR has recorded 0.04 inches of rain since May 9. They are predicting rain tomorrow. We shall see.

Texas is bracing for possible rough weather later today (Saturday June 10,2023). We have gotten very hot quickly. Mid 90's already. There is moisture around and now fronts, dry lines and such. Possible 60 MPH winds on outflow boundary's, possible golf hail.... We do need some rain. my yard guy fertilized on Thursday so if no rain, I'll have to water. Our air quality has been mid-level most of the week. Ozone building up. I think we also got some of the smoke from Canada.Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork

Got an hour later start than planned and storm showed up an hour earlier than forecasted at 11.5 miles into a 15 mile walk. I would have been fine with just rain, but with thunder and lightning and wind that I thought was going to destroy my umbrella I diverted to a convenient gas station and used my first uber to get back to my car. After walking past all the destroyed trees from the last tornado didn't see the need to risk being part of the next one.The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

In case you thought it was finally summer in the White Mountains...
They are calling this the snowiest June on record on Mount Washington, and June is not even half way over yet!

They are predicting rain tomorrow, which is newsworthy as we've only had 0.35 inches of rain in the last 50 days.

Texas decided to go from typical early June of bad storms, straight to the middle of August. Temps in the 100 to 105 range with THI in the 105 to 116 range.....all week long.
And meanwhile, someone decided 119 degrees in Big Bend was the perfect day for a long trail hike.....which very sadly, didn't end well.Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork -

A rainy 4th of July today.
It feels like it has been raining here for 40 days and 40 nights. The weird thing is the Boston rainfall totals for the month of June look pretty average. My town north of Boston seems to be sitting on a line that thunderstorms have taken every day and every night. It just does not stop. It is pouring again now. The ground outside is saturated.“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,

My day was mild showers on and off, turned to sunny skies as I drove an hour north to my uncle's house. On my way back I learned that I had completely missed when a substantial cell passed over my house earlier in the day and caused mild flash flooding.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

After pleasant weather in Sendai, and slightly warmer weather this past week in Tokyo, we returned today to 90s at home. Still better than the 103 days we missed this past week. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

New York got slammed yesterday into last night.
Harriman State Park is closed. Road access in and around the park is closed. UP to 8 inches of rain in a few hours have created a state of emergency in Orange County. Getting to Ft Montgomery from Bear Mtn for resupply is currently impossible.its all good -

A challenge sometimes about the hiking the mid Atlantic states of the AT during the summer is lack of water, so I guess at least that won't be issue for a while. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

This was my Monday. Not complaining though, this comes with living on a lake.
Plus we really lucked out, the storm veered north and only dropped a couple inches of rain in my area. Most of the flow in the river was from rain dumped farther north rather than a direct hit.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -
