Big wind storm today. We get one every year in early November. It was the gales of November that sank the Fitz.

81 here today. Might head up to the park tomorrow and glamp even though it's a chance of rain in the afternoon. A night out in the mountains is good anytime to me."Dazed and Confused"

Here's something interesting bbc.com/news/health-63602501.amp. An article about the changes your body makes as you get cold.

There is lots of evidence that supports the health benefits of those crazy Scandinavians jumping out of their saunas into an ice hole plunge. I don't want it that extreme, but I do enjoy sleeping outside on a cold night.“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,

We've had below normal temps here in N TX. I hiked 8.8 miles out at LBJ National Grasslands on Saturday. Ran into two hikes! They had cached water and were heading for one of the designated use areas for the night. They were not pushing miles at all. It was about 45 for the high but with two merino shirts plus a nylon athletic shirt, I had my fleece unzipped, had removed my beanie, my gloves, my wristies. I did get chilled as I sat on the truck running boards eating lunch. My back was damp from sweat and I was cooling down. I chatted with a FS Volunteer I know and he half advised me to NOT there over THanksgiving. There are deer bow hunters who have been there since Oct 1. Now it's shotgun and black powder. There were more cars than usual for sure! And he said this 4 day weekend is "Four Day Dove Season". I'm not a hunter but he said it will be NUTS. I wear blaze orange vest but the FS Volunteer was saying the dove hunters just blast buckshot at every bird and armadillo rustling around. And I saw 4 'Dillos and heard several more! I think I'll hike my local lake trail.
Low 60's today (Monday) and me and a buddy are going to a DIY Orienteering event at a local park.Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork -

My Orienteering buddy and I have been setting up for this Saturday's event in Athens Texas. We set up on a very nice day on Sunday. On Wednesday we dodged rain and finished flagging the orienteering points for the event in early January. We left in pouring rain. This Saturday looks like rain most of the day for our event.Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork

We're supposed to get an inch or two of snow this PM. That's usually nothing to write home about around here, but we've had no snow on the ground now for several weeks. That's much below average for us.

Having our first snow flakes here right now, just a dusting.
Problem is it was drizzling first, and then 'Black Ice' formed.
Driving home from dinner, just a few miles, saw several spin outs, fender benders, and one new Ford Bronco sitting on its roof (ambulance on the scene of that one).
I really have to question the intelligence of people who 'drive fast' to get home at the first sign of snowflakes because they are nervous about driving in the snow.
In this case I don't think fast is your best option.“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,

Meanwhile, it's 73 degrees and the only reason I'm walking fast is to beat sunset.2,000 miler -

When I am in a situation like that I am the one with the hazard lights on in the right lane. And willing to park it and walk the last few miles if necessary.
Fortunately I have my wife to drive if we need to get somewhere once it snows. If I loose her, I am moving to The Villages or somewhere on the coast. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.
