But... Imagine a movie of a train going down a track.
Now... make the train's speed negative. The movie shows the train backing up.
Alternatively... play the film backward while the train runs normally. (That is, make the film's speed negative.) The movie shows the train backing up.
What happens if... you run the train backward AND you run the film backward? The movie shows the train going forward. Two negatives multiply to make a positive.
how bout in the movies -- the car is going forward -- but if you look at the tires it looks like they are going backwards. so....
are the tires moving faster than the film? or is the film moving faster than the tires?2,000 miler -
Frame rates. If wheel turns more than x.5 at moment of the recorded frame it will appear to move backward. If it turns less than x.5 it will appear to move forward. Same thing happens in real life when watching a wheel accelerate. Our mind has a frame rate too. I forget the film and brain frame rates.Non hikers are about a psi shy of a legal ball.

I believe 24 is a standard frame rate. That is why it is important to have at least a 120hz TV. The 60hz divides the 24 into 3 3 2 to make a number that divides into 24. This causes motion blur. I know just enough about it to fool some people that I know something, when in reality I don't know nothing.Non hikers are about a psi shy of a legal ball.

Close enough. 3:2 pulldown works pretty well on progressive scan, but alternate fields are terrible on 30 or 60fps interlaced. (That is, 24 fps movies work well enough on HD, or digital SD, but looked terrible on analog.) I still rememebr a little about this stuff. I worked on designing the control room when NBC was rolling out digital video for the first time.I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here.

Thank you for being gentle on me AK. I knew I was snarbbling it a bit. I am a consumer of information and I don't specialize enough to know anything well. Only so much fits up there before it starts to blend together.Non hikers are about a psi shy of a legal ball. -

BTW ... if Captain Kirk fell in love with someone, you knew she was gonna die before the end of the episode.
Surf's up this weekend. Last time i went surfing was during Hurricane Andrew. Man, the face of those waves were higher than a 2 storey house. -

It it's an option but it also displays who viewed the thread. We turned it off because feels like an invasion of privacy.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.
