We were watching that game. My son was especially interest as he needed the Raiders to win for him to win his office football pool.

I have to admit I was rooting for ND. For one, my college roommate whom I haven't seen in years but is arriving far an overnight visit in a couple hours is from South Bend originally and Brian Kelly got his coaching start and first National Championship at the division 2 school where I work.

i have some friends and ex in-laws who live in ohio -- and think the big 10 is the be all end all when it comes to football (i think that's soo cute) -- and i enjoyed pointing out telling them that over the last 4 years the northernmost team playing for the national championship is located in clemson, south carolina.2,000 miler

The College Football Hall of Fame will also induct the Goodyear Blimp as an honorary member this year. It will be the first non-player or non-coach to enter the Hall.2,000 miler -

Perhaps Nick Saban wins another championship tonight. But I thought it was interesting what I heard on a national radio show this morning, "there are third world dictators that are nicer guys than Nick Saban".The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

kinda like makin a choice between putin and castro.
tony kornheiser hates saban. he asked saban if he was going to quit the dolphins -- saban looked him right in the eyes and flat out lied to him. kornheiser has never forgiven him for that.2,000 miler -
I'm happy with the result of the Championship game. We're an ACC family since my kids' schools represent 33% of the 12 ACC teams. And it's easier to accept Pitt's loss to Clemson in this year's ACC Championship game since it was to the eventual #1 team. H2P!Trudgin' along the AT since 2003. ESPN has apologized for playing the Confederate Civil War anthem "Dixie" during its Colts-Texans NFL wild-card telecast Saturday.
Some TV viewers accused ESPN of racial insensitivity on social media after watching the graphic depicting Colts quarterback Andrew Luck as a Civil War officer while "Dixie" sounded in the background.
In a weird, ahistorical touch, Luck's blue-clad Union officer is "protected" by soldiers/offensive linemen wearing both the grey and blue uniforms of the Confederate and Union armies.2,000 miler -

Perhaps I should start protesting about insensitivity to being vertically challenged, never mind the insensitivity of ageism, and the curse of being male in 2019. I could go on and on, as could probably everyone else here. cbs is not running the ad as it is "against their policy" which of course is the definition of censorship.2,000 miler -

It's like accusing Rasty of censorship for not allowing political discussion on this forum. Speaking of which... -
When libraries are forced to remove "offensive" books from shelf it is censorship. When libraries choose not to purchase "offensive" books, it is called collection development. The reality is that no library can purchase every book so it is up to the professionals to determine what books to buy. It doesn't make a difference if it is a public or private entity. The same is true for the media. It is naive to think that any human activity is, was, or could be objective.

My brother in law lives near Oxford, he and his whole family are Ole Miss fans, a vendor gave him several of these and he passed one along to me (MS fan), I believe he was trying to get them out of his yard before the neighbors saw them.I may grow old but I'll never grow up.

On one had you have to admire Belichick and New England for all of the success they have had. But unfortunately on the other hand like Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens there is always that nagging question of where greatness ended and the cheating took over. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

i learned something this morning.
we all know julian edelman -- super bowl MVP -- missed the first 4 games of the season beacuse of a PED suspension. he served his time and was then all was forgiven.
as i just learned, this is different than baseball.
in baseball if you are suspended during part of a season for PED -- even if you serve your time and then return to action -- you are still ineligible to participate in that season's postseason.
baseball made this change is 2014.
i think baseball has the right idea.2,000 miler -
